The Night the Wardrobe Hummed at the Sleepy Creek Inn

from Bedtime for the Brave — Fexingo Horror · host Fexingo

Luna recalls a night in the autumn of 2017 at the Sleepy Creek Inn, a three-story motel wedged between an interstate and a knot of pine woods. She was there to write, but the room had a wardrobe that hummed — a low, mechanical sound from inside the woodwork that came and went with the flickering of the fluorescent light in the bathroom. She ignored it the first night. The second night, she opened the wardrobe. Inside were three wire hangers, a stale lavender sachet, and nothing else. But the humming continued. She traced it to the back panel, which vibrated under her hand. She pried it loose with a butter knife. Behind it was not the wall of the next room, but a narrow vertical shaft, and at the bottom, something breathed. This is a story about a place where the architecture remembers what it was built to hide. #SleepyCreekInn #TheWardrobe #MotelHorror #AutumnNight #HummingSound #BehindTheWall #BreathingInTheDark #LavenderSachet #NoExit #VentShaft #Indiana #SmallTown #AtmosphericHorror #SlowBurnHorror #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #BedtimeForTheBrave #Luna Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
