Futurist futurist yeah, this old no spark. I haven't heard that one king of lightning. Yep. He's up Not that yeah, I'm glad I'm going to go.

I'm actually Sunday early Sunday. You sure yeah I don't want to do that. Yeah, I was playing all time. Oh, you know honestly because I clearly can't handle shit River sing last week where I totally fucked everything up.

I wouldn't have had me so ten of you Well, let's be real eight of you not counting Brent and I let's be like six because I'm sure there's like four The people who downloads do they don't listen to yeah, and I think it downloads to me twice although it doesn't it isn't accurately Give my downloads for some reason like I pulled up the stats and there was one for South Carolina And I don't know how that could be because I had it on Google Play and on pocketcast which usually shows up Maybe it senses the IP addresses being downloaded only counts as one download. I think so I've tested that was it actually downloaded to Google Play Or was it just a notification that is there no download a Google play like it automatically down the store Yeah, trying to beat up those numbers. Yeah, yeah, Sam back the numbers sandbag and yeah, whoo we went from 20 to 22 Fuck yeah, I got like eight years eight years what till my daughter gets out of my house and I'm going to work for some sort of Travel company not travel company, but some sort of government contract company where I travel all around the US Yeah, just gonna bring it with me. Yeah, make money.

Why don't you think it because I mean I don't have any retirement? I don't either. It's my retirement plan. I mean really this house is kind of my retirement plan So by condoned Florida, maybe you'll have to be 50 to get into the retirement community that Terry's parents are in really it's nice Dude, I like it.

I might just have you heard of these people who like live on cruise ships Yeah, I mean think about it three hundred dollars a week I mean that's like $1,200 a month can't be that hard can't I see no pay for electricity I mean so literally it's one fee and it's like a pay yeah plus there's like a thousand employees So how much work are you really doing no no they don't work on the ships? They literally just pay to go on cruise after cruise back to back cruises Oh, because it comes out to be like two grand a month and then if you get these and it covers all your food electricity I mean there's no bills, but the money paid on the cruise right? Yeah, cuz we were on like a Five day for like 500 bucks. Yes.

I was saying super keep fucking hey I mean to include food. Yeah, but you have to have a job right now if you're retiring a 401k 401k is paying out and you're so Scaredy's paying out. Oh, we're tired. Yeah.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Oh, that's what I was talking about I'm talking about the community where Terry's parents live is super nice. I guess 50. You don't retire 50 No, that's how you retire 50.

No, that's an idiot. I'm ready to retire already me too, but that you know for me That's 11 years away. Hey, then you know my retirement plan is what podcast buddy How's that working? No, it's not going good so far.

Yeah, if those 20 people send us five dollars each that'll give us like a hundred bucks Yeah, exactly. Well, I'd be less than that. So how's your week now? Not too bad.

I went white water after mother fucker Oh, yeah, I was it that was pretty fucking badass. You ever been no you wanna go next year from a birthday sure it's fucking funny shit dude for our birthdays Oh, yeah, I mean it was a really really fun great description I mean I just I mean it's like adrenaline, but like you're in the water. It was cold and it was just a blast man It's hard to even explain it's like a team. Yeah, I've been like hacking and canoeing and shit And I wouldn't say whitewater.

I would say like at most great water great. Yeah, you know great What is no when you go camping like any water used to wash dishes or clean stuff with great water? Whoa, I don't know that mmm. I'm supposed to strain it like pantyhose You can dump the pantyhose and dump it so you're not dumping like pieces of trash or whatever But I mean it's all things else you stood up in soapy water and wherever you're dumping it What's wrong with soap not if you's done, right?

It's clean them fishes man. Yeah, so how does dawn like how did dawn get away with being like the only soap Like it's environmentally safe. It might be one of the few soaps that doesn't have like Fuck the badatives Because I mean as commercially available soaps is it dawn? Don't someone's they use for like you know, you see the oil spills and they're cleaning animals Yeah, that's that one, but there's there's a difference between detergent and soap and there's only like one soap on the market I forget what it is.

I think it might be ivory dove. It's either yeah, it's one of those it's dove ivory I don't think it's dawn it's still a detergent because it's yeah dawn's a soap, right? Are you sure? I'm like nine I'm sure anyway.

Anyway, yeah, so I guess one's like a chemical cleaner versus one's I guess natural I mean, I just don't understand how it's a liquid soap like you would think I mean I mean you don't want to like cover ducks in it for no reason like they suggest you wash your dog with that because it kills fleas and stuff like Like what I would consider natural soap would be fat and lie. Yeah fat lie. Why do you have to have fat there? I don't know I guess it chemically changes when it's mixed with a lie.

Yeah, I know my buddy. It makes homemade soaps I know all I know about soap from phyclops. Yeah, I think that's most of it So these are people's were watching their clothes. They just would just lie right in the water where so weird when I would watch through the ashes I forget what he said in that line I was pretty good like how did people come up with like live with fat like I mean how did they make that mixture and go?

Yeah, this is what we're gonna use for now to clean ourselves It just seems like a weird thing to just find out. Yeah, the short answer is soap is natural and detergent isn't so Piscrated by mixing fat and oil with an alkali like a lie. This is Kim Koper. Yeah, this is a great scene It is like actually jumps the line on his hand my question though.

Yeah, so he goes to do it to him But then he sees he has it it. It's really is him the whole time It's just him so did already have it or did you not already have it? Oh, maybe already have and then he did it again. Maybe two kisses my fuck up Well, you imagine Tyler so I was imaginary one right there How do you know what it was gonna look like and be like from the kiss?

Hmm well clearly he kissed his own hand to make it wet so that the lie would stick no What I'm saying did I can't remember if Tyler showed him that he already had it before he did it Or did he do it and then go like no, I don't got it. No again, okay So was after the fact anyways, yeah, cuz when he was like you can run to the water and wash it off or accepted Oh, yeah, you use vigor and neutralize the burn and he was like, you don't know how this feels and then you like show that that's right Yeah, it's gonna be like in a minute. So I've seen it. It's in here.

Oh, yeah pretty amazing abs and then yeah, bread pit Hot. I'll say it. I'm not scared Late night. He's Brad Pitt's hot dude.

You've watched the the Yvonne thing. I mean, maybe you just told me did Oh, yeah, I just thought it Dude his bid on Brad Pitt is fucking amazing. Yeah, I've seen some of his specials. I guess I'm one more one One of some Netflix you know, no offense.

I remember what's called a thing It was a while ago when I saw it though. So it can't be new. I don't think it's brand new But yeah, it's been there a while the other than this we can come up on to be a town going to a family Chili cookoff would do every year. Hold on.

That sounds dope. It is I need to know a little bit more about the the rafting trip You went to a brewery. Where'd you go? No, we went to a distillery and it was horrible.

Really? Yeah, it was probably These muskadine grapes and apples that they grow on their orchard, right? Which is fine if you do, right? Okay, well, they had some of them were bad.

There's two brandies which were kind of okay. I'm not a big brandy fan. So it's great And then there was a whiskey and a bourbon. Yeah, you know two whiskeys are whiskey and bourbon bourbon is whiskey.

Well, yeah And then there was a gin really horrible was made with you never yeah, but it was just it wasn't good and then there was a Vodka, which was terrible. So they're just awful. Yeah, they know that they're doing one of the brandies was alright and one of the whiskeys was good Did you ever try to juggstish it when you're over here? No, thanks.

The corn whiskey Oh, well, see that's the thing we brought with us three bottles of moonshine right like corn whiskey moonshine hundred and fates on proof Fuck you one was blackberry flavored one was like orange juice flavored and one was just clear, right? We killed all those between four people yeah, and then we had probably drink about 70 something beers nice It tore up yeah, Doug made made a batch that I had some of uh, it wasn't super strong. I mean it wasn't 190 Yeah, it was just diluted down to like 150 or something. Yeah, this is about what that was you know, you don't want it I mean you know like burn your face, but he made it with sweet corn and it was fantastic Yeah, like Terry and I got what other people tried it and she was like that's fucking nasty But have you read a honey mead?

Yeah, I love some honey mead man son of a bitch guy No mates. I'm and like gave me a mason. You're a bit pretty tore off the man. Yeah, it's a lot stronger than I thought it was gonna be Yeah, I was like I was gonna be like a beer.

I can drink this whole thing. Nope. No you can't Yeah, it's basically honey wine. Yeah, it's pretty fucking delicious, man I want to make my own it seems pretty easy the way the guy was telling me He's like you pretty much just mix all this stuff and close it and put it in a like a pantry or closet where's dark and cold Really I was wondering what those hockey makers like the giant jars.

I don't know they made this. You're just in one of those It's like a huge glass bowl. It's on like some kind of a rocker rocker beam spit something like that Mmm. They look cool.

Anyway, I always want to try brewing my beer. Yeah, I do too But the homebrew shit it all ends up tasting the same you mean like IPA I can hate IPA man. Yeah, I feel is rough. I'd like to make like a porter or stout.

Oh like a coffee oatmeal stout Mmm, I like those a lot, but there's something I don't know what it is There's some process to homebrew that just they all they fuck it up somehow like it's either over carbonated or Maybe it's not filtered or it does the chemical reaction within the bottle. I think there's something weird with it It's not just I don't think I've ever had homebrew really now. I don't think so not like someone made I mean I had they called him home brews, but they're really just many distilleries I don't know if they're gonna do it again. I'm not many breweries.

So this year this year last year there was a brew Ha ha yeah, I've been wanting to go that I haven't been I've been to one brew festival that was at the Joe Riley Stadium Oh, like two three years ago. Yeah, they're not called that beer olympics. Yeah, yeah We've gone like three times. It's one of those ticket deals.

Yeah, that matters for like an hour and after that They're just like yeah, here's here's beer. Yeah, pretty much like as long as you start with tickets We don't have to carry this out. Yeah, so please drink up and I remember being there and people were like Yeah, I'm leaving here. So mine here's this sheet of tickets.

I haven't used yet. Yeah, cuz it doesn't matter Yeah, they'll stop taking and everybody gets a mash Mm-hmm like you better get a cab. Yeah, are you fucked? I don't think I'm taking a cab.

Yeah What we're talking about this week Nikola Tesla like recall. Yeah, they're talking about his name like I Something back my head goes did they say recall or Nikola? We may need to just wreck you at some point Yeah, I know That's probably off the charts. You know 1280 on my SATs.

I think you got me I was I used to round up at 1300 just because sorry. I think it's 1290. I'm not just trying to one up you Yeah, sure whatever man. That was 1281 I don't know somewhere around there anyways.

Yeah, that's the first time I took it went down to like 1260 something I'm like, oh, I'm getting dumber. I don't know why I took twice. Yeah, why did you take twice? I think I just wanted to see what it was the second time when I took it I was a sophomore and I took it again when I was a senior whoa much to get a sophomore I was trying to get ahead on college what did I never went to yeah, maybe we're gonna go to school Was one I was planning on school and then I found out about women.

Yeah, that's an alcohol There's more those in college. Yeah, but I'm in I moved out of my house like as soon as I turned 18 and yeah good point I should have gone away to it like I'm a time my daughter go away to a school We live in a dorm. Yeah, you can't get kicked out of school because you want a place to live Yeah, you can crash on somebody's couch for a while But you know saying like it's you're more likely if you're if you have any response I was a talent this is a college town though. No, and see that's the thing I didn't even think I applied for any colleges I was like I'm going to try and tech like I grew up in a small town in Indiana And it's like if you want to not be here for a while you have to apply to a college because See I think that was part of my problem.

I could just go downtown and party. Yeah, I didn't have to be in college to party Like I went to college. I just didn't finish college Man and tesla is a Tesla into college. I didn't miss it I know he didn't yes, he did.

I can't tell you what college you went to but he didn't need it though So you want to tell you what some of the titles Tesla and inventor electrical engineer mechanical engineer physicist futureist futureist Yeah, this old no spark. I haven't heard that one king of lightning Tesla's a futureist man kind of like Elon Musk. Yeah, he's risk. I got you I think Elon Musk is the Nikola Tesla today's era.

Would you say that that's what I would say yes? Hmm? Why so much doubt I'd say he's more like the Thomas Edison. Oh, don't say that Thomas Edison was a super dick man Should we get into why Thomas Edison such an asshole?

Yeah, let's get into why I've been infuriated my entire life about not only Thomas Edison But no granite Thomas Edison was important. No, he was important I mean without him a lot of electronics wouldn't be what they are today for enough a lot of okay Well, let's start with the basic. What is it the battle battle of the currents? That's what they call it.

Yeah, I guess AC DC Not a man lightning bull so Tesla invented a sea current alternate current which is what you get in your power outlets Yeah, that's in every home today light bulbs besides LEDs and then DC current is what most small electronics use Yeah direct current most of your electronics in your home convert and it's it's kind of funny actually when you think about it It's most transformers in your home will convert AC DC. Yeah, like most of them Yeah, if they don't do it in the plug-in-the-wall they do it internally right most You know all LEDs are DC and it's just weird that could could you make that stuff to run on a I mean like could you make a computer that runs L. Nacy maybe I don't know like our monitor or TV or would have to be DC because AC would be Anyway, that's why you feel like we're jumping a little bit. Yeah, I am.

That's what I said. That's all I said myself short Okay, so nickel in the Tesla is a Serbian correct. Oh is he a Croatian? There's a big Serb Croatian?

There's a thing there's a big I guess fight over who he belongs to because his parents were Serbian Right he was born in a country some territory of Austria, which is now Croatia, right? Yeah, I was like it was Austrian and then he moved to America and so all three of those places claim him that makes sense Anyway, but what most people saw I saw was Serb Serbian Serb Croatian yeah, that makes it up to you. It's not important. No super genius.

What's important is this dude was interested and excited by electricity and Just you know basically geeking out over stuff that didn't exist yet He's well known for some very important discoveries Like I guess technically could you call him a theoretical physicist in his time sort of yeah, man He's really a person but mostly noted for AC current as you mentioned already But in his young life opposed, you know his professors He opposed originally I think he was supposed to be a minister if I remember correctly wasn't his father minister I didn't look into that I think so and I actually read one account of it was his the static discharge from his cat that initially got him interested in electricity when he was like eight years old I could see that so catch change the world people like as a kid Did you take electronics apart? Yes? Just to see what they were made out of my parents off? Oh my god I remember my granddad like had like this little handheld poker machine Yeah, I took it apart and I don't know if you know like the LCD screens on those like they had to line up perfectly with the Ours and I put it together and it didn't work and I was like oh shit Yeah, I had so many of those sorts of toys like LEDs would light up if you like press certain buttons, you know Like a Simon yeah shit like that anything you fit a screwdriver in my mom caught me one day like disassembling the vacuum cleaner because I Want to see how nice like completely yeah?

Oh, yeah, I don't like separating everything out once I found a screwdriver It was like game on oh shit I can take all this stuff apart and see what's inside it I wanted to take a light switch apart shot this shit out of yourself. I never shot myself. What no first thing I did I remember being young like having a screwdriver and I took a light switch off And I was like oh that's cool when I poked with this your driver. Yeah, I was like, okay.

My sister did it before me Really? Yeah, she's like a knife in an outlet. I never did that I mean for years there was like a scorch mark on the wall. I Swear I still remember the screen Like just like like a butter knife from the drawer just like this you can you get a lecture to everyone's wall on your work Right?

I'm not nearly as much as you really I do but I have been yeah I actually got shocked probably like ten days ago less than that yeah, it's like a strangely rejuvenating it really is it's frightening Makes you feel awesome, but also kind of pisses you off like yeah fucking idiot damn it and then you don't want to touch again You're like I got to touch it, but I'm pretty sure I fix it. It's not gonna shock me I have to touch it I don't want to touch it same time it like it amps me up man I've been pulling wire through some elevator control boxes this week Oh, yeah, frightening because we can't get into the whole thing But we have to get wire through it and that's what 240 or 480 640 watts, I'm sorry 650 volts. I don't know how many watts But there's multiple fuses on the thing to say like six amps 15 amps. I mean like more than enough to give it takes like 10 million Up to kill you I think or something that is not much.

I really don't average wise. It's not a lot I should probably look that up. That's like a I got hit by 480 do on a huge AC unit on the roof Seriously, I mean it literally went from this side of my knuckle to this side of my knuckle But it was life-changing I'll give it that I couldn't imagine hanging on to both ends of it because it just went through my finger I'm surprised my knuckle didn't explode. I'm gonna like sure as it elected recently on a gate.

I don't do about that Mm-hmm. I think it was like 220. Yeah, it's intense. I make you see white not pleasant Not pleasant Like you black out for like while you're touching it like white out for everything is white instead of black Yeah, it does and each time I was like son of a bitch What was happening was my sweat was dripping down my fist as I was trying to hold the components in while I was closing a box I'd drift onto a high voltage relay and it all it did was just like arc over the sweat on my hand.

Yeah, dude So painful. Well, did you know Nicola Tesla? Mr. Tesla was a germaphobe?

Yes, I did Yeah, he had a lot of issues a lot of people think OCD and stuff like that OCD I mean just based on most accounts of him quite a few people think that he was autistic and even that you know unique brand of autistic That's a savant like a high functioning intelligent like about one specific topic one of the most amazing things about the man and this started early on like he Visualized three-dimensional design and didn't write it down like when he first and visualized the oscillating motor which created alternating current He had no design for it Like he dreamt about it and he visualized it in his mind and then just built it like he's famous for this like there are very Until later in his life when he started not being able to remember things as well that he actually started writing things down But for like until he was like 40 he didn't write shit down. He just like built it He just was like yeah, I can probably do that and just started doing it that is crazy Yeah, like I have to write shit down I guess I can think in three dimensions like anything about stuff and kind of flip it in my head and see also But I mean I sometimes I don't remember my own name literally I forget my birthday literally I'm like is it the 17th or the 18th? Seriously, yeah, I do forget how I am. I've never forgot my birthday.

I had to look up the other day I was like I thought I was 34. No, it's not 33. Okay, so I thought I was 34. I see any 30s you know give shit anymore That's true.

So you know he came up in in Europe went to school developed an idea for the AC motor I don't think he ever came up with a prototype or maybe he did I think he told it like a Revolving egg or something like that. That was the egg of Columbus. That was what he did during the World Affairs Oh, okay later on it does for his wireless remote wireless power right jumping ahead again You're mentioned that egg and I saw us bringing up anyway So he had this idea for the AC motor which he was told in school was you know ridiculous could never happen It's not possible and of course he had a working model in his mind. He got a recommendation from his professor in Europe I can't remember what school he went to but he had read about heard about Thomas Edison and needed a recommendation They wrote it for him and then he wrote Edison saying that he felt that he could fix is a problem that he was having with his DC dynamo Yeah, increase its output and fix some of the issues that I guess was stopping him from it being a productive unit or something Which I have to say one of Tesla's problems throughout his entire life was you know branding and selling things how badass is Dynamo yeah real quick question what the fuck's a diamond?

It's basically the DC version of an AC motor like that's what creates DC power Oh, okay, so a dynamo would be required to coil with magnet and spins right exactly So he moved to the United States went to work for Edison and Edison's like check this out I've got this problem with my dynamo if you can solve it. I'll pay you $50,000 in today's money That's about a million bucks 1.2 1.2 million dollars. So Tesla's like oh hell yeah, I can do it. I can do it So I can yeah, and he fixed it sweet never paid him.

Yep. He went to Edison was like hey here you go I fixed your problems as it's like oh yeah, that was a joke. You don't understand American humor Yeah, what a dick dude. Hey, what's here for?

That was America. We're funny. You're an idiot. Yeah, so so then just jump into why Thomas Edison's a huge dick is he didn't invent the light ball He improved on the process of 22 other inventors before him.

He had a team of people working under him at all times He was a fantastic hype man slash promoter slash marketer slash salesman He paid people to come up with shit and then he took all the credit and made the lines share the money on it You want to hear what a Tesla said about as an after Edison died? Please this is Tesla on Edison if he had a needle to find a haystack He would not stop the reason where it wasn't most likely to be but would proceed at once with the fevers Delegence of a bee to examine straw after straw until he found the object of a search I was almost sorry to witness such doings knowing that a little theory and calculation would have saved him 90 percent of his labor Yeah, he was brute force his way through problems. Yeah with money and other people Yeah, he would just force people to work long hours and figure that the prime amount for him and take all the credit And then when Tesla like started saying hey AC is gonna be a lot better for powering houses because we don't have to put a substation every two miles right Edison was like Oh, yeah, well guess what AC can do it can kill you and your family and bring your house down Watch me electrocute the cellophane Yeah, so when Tesla quit he already had grand designs for the AC motor that you know obviously revolutionized the world I mean the world today would not exist without Nikola Tesla And that's one of the biggest reasons I'm a huge fan and so when he left he found an investor Well actually not an investor he ended up meeting up with Westinghouse and sold like most of his patents to him for like a solid million Well, it's yeah, I mean I remember how many of his patents he sold to him Well, it's crazy He didn't like rent out his bands like okay. Well, you can use them every year for X I was just a lump sum like yeah Just give me that money which he did entirely to continue working Yeah, like the only reason money was important to Tesla was so that he can continue I need to work money from the stuff.

I made to make more stuff Yeah, he didn't give a shit about getting rich How crazy is it that Westinghouse is now like they make knockoff TVs? Yeah, I mean I don't know I can't think anything they make this there's still has to be some money in Westinghouse because Westinghouse hooked him up with JP Morgan Chase Mm-hmm like is that banking still around or did they go under during the chase back? Yeah, you've heard of Chase back Yeah, Chase Bank is still out. Yeah, yeah, JP Morgan though.

Oh, JP Morgan. Yeah, they went under no They're still around too. Yeah, but I mean literally the guy JP. Yeah, the guy who made the big banks that yeah exists now Yeah, so JP Morgan financed Tesla to build the first AC powered hydroelectric plant in Niagara Falls And it to this day powers almost all of the Northeast like whole shit Yeah, he had like over 300 something patents I was actually looking through all of them just to read the titles of them like a lot of them are improvement upon other things and then Most of them are like different types of generators like you know we do this way and then he made like the the bladeless Oh, what was it the bay bladeless turbine?

Oh, yeah, before the for the Niagara Falls. Yep, absolutely. It's pretty amazing You ever know it's worth a visit. Oh, yeah, I mean we're playing on go New York soon So I think we'll go visit that while we're at the New York You know being from Indiana I mean Niagara Falls wasn't that far away.

I mean it was you know was a weekend trip So it's definitely worth it being in Charleston currently. That's kind of a pain in the ass I don't know if it's worth the trip up there just for that But I will tell you because there's obviously two sides Hey, say the Canadian side is way better. That's what I've heard way better Yeah, like everything about it the view is better the you know how close you are to the falls the apology sound better Sorry, sorry, oh man, I look in need Anyway, so obviously the giant contribution to humanity at large is AC power and not just AC power I mean the alternator in your car is an alternating current motor. Yeah, it's nothing that we currently enjoy would be wait I'll enter in your cars.

Not AC are sure. Oh, yeah Maybe it's just it's just it's just the gear terms the magnet you read about that well I mean everything wireless you can thank him for I mean oh, yeah, let's get into that because he basically invented radio I'm not in video frequencies, but the transmission through radio frequencies Yes, that was the egg of Columbus I was talking about like that one of the world fairs That was his first demo of how wireless power work basically is the same way like a car reader works like for access to get new building Right, he had a coil inside of this brass or copper egg and so when it was sitting on another coil that energized that coil Which caused it to spin to sit upright. Oh, right like where it looks like it's left a mmm. Yeah, not left Hey, but it would spin right so upright itself.

Yeah, so yeah, anyways. Yeah, you know wireless power basically wireless Well, yeah, that would be like inductive power. Yes, is that right? induction induction Which is what how like a you know the batteries that just sit on pad like your phone just sits on a pad of charge Right, you just same same concept.

So basically It's also invented radio communication and he demonstrated this multiple times. Oh, yeah I was telling you about I think in the last episode maybe we were just talking I don't remember about Tesla unveiling the Remote control submersible. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, and how many people saw that one?

Yeah, right? Oh, that's what I was like. What the fuck? How's that about your magic?

So he spoke to the US Navy about it. Thomas Edison actually had a contract with US Navy and was like yeah wireless communication not useful He also developed radar in the same way Marconi who is widely credited for inventing radio used nine of his patents actually Tesla said that when somebody told him The Marconi had been given like a Nobel Prize for inventing radio. He was like, that's fine. Let him continue He's using nine of my patents and it wasn't actually until after his death that the Supreme Court ruled that Marconi It's stolen Tesla's technology and they related to him as the inventor But nobody remembers that daylight dollar short buddy.

Yeah, I mean the some of the greatest broadcasters ever will tell you that Marconi invented radio I found what I found surprising about Tesla was suppose he was like a pretty big egomaniac and so was Edison right there They were both like big dick swingers like oh, look at my I just I didn't think of him as like that I definitely thought of Edison like that, but a little bit in a different way I mean I think Tesla's more like real. I'm gonna do this and show you that it can be done Tesla had a reason Yeah, I mean he wasn't after money So and all of his inventions were his you know, he didn't pay somebody else to come up with that shit Not to mention a lot of people didn't figure out a lot of the things that the Tesla knew until many years later Like inductive charging just like you mentioned earlier with the egg. Yeah, that's a good Adsense inductive charging cell phones. How long has that been around?

Yeah, not very long couple years where you have a little charge mad And my tooth rest charges inductively. Yeah, where you don't have to have physical contacts touching each other. Yep Close well, it's like I'm a brain just broke induction So first off I want to conclude the beginning of you know Sort of the injustices of the general person not knowing nickel with Tesla with his contributions to AC power and radio obviously Mm-hmm. You mentioned earlier where Edison tried to prove that AC was dangerous Famously he electrocuted an elephant in public to prove that it was he did this animals all the time Yeah, but I think it was the biggest thing he did it to yeah He had his lab workers steal pets from the neighborhood around waverly place because Edison's an awesome guy Yeah, he's a great guy and it's difficult to kill something with AC power.

Yeah, it is easier to kill something with DC power Yeah, that's what electric chair uses. Yeah, would you like to explain what the difference between killing something with AC versus DC with this? No, go on DC power is direct current travels one direction Yeah, so when you're electrocuted like let's say you reach out and grab a pole that's electrified You're hand will tighten around that pole and you won't look it you will not let go you'll be stuck there until someone knocks you off AC powers alternating current in and out in an hour so you touch them Yep, and so to be forcibly electrocuted by AC very painful way to go. Yeah, it takes a long time Yep, so on top of this there was famously a tesla's original lab in New York I'm not real quick.

Uh-huh just maybe think I did not know electric chairs were DC Yeah, so in all movies when people get electric and they're shaking that's not how it happened then they would go and dead Yeah, it might still shake a little bit, but yeah, I'm not nearly as violently. I don't know sorry I just had to I was thinking about that. It's creepy. It's cool.

It's not cool. It's no It's horrifying. It's been shocked. I don't want to go that way So a lot of people think that Edison burnt his laboratory to the ground Brant Tesla's yes because according to Tesla there wasn't really any reason for the lab to burn down It was when he was very close to some large contracts and when it was Edison was close to some large contracts were converting You know entire cities to DC to light the whole city is bad news and I don't know if that's true or not I wouldn't put it past him if he's electrocuting animals in public so that everybody can watch to burn down someone's house Yeah, he's clearly pretty fucked up And it's a shame because who knows what was there and the reason to bring that up is to kind of transition into the things that Tesla isn't as well known for I mean, he's not well known at all Which is annoying enough.

Yeah, but it's brilliant man One of the things that he accomplished in New York was and using his oscillating motor is he experimented a lot with the residents Oh, yes Every object has a certain frequency that will make it resonate to the point where it nearly falls apart like a tuning fork If you tap a tuning fork that noise you make yes The inverse of that is the resonance you would need to make it fall apart. Correct Supposedly very early on he was able to determine the resonance of the earth and developed what many call an earthquake machine by taking a tiny Yeah, I think tapping I think oscillating motor and attaching it to an I beam in the building where his laboratory was And it caused earthquake like shocks around the building. I think all he said he needed was a small amount of power and 15 pounds of air pressure Yeah, to destroy anything pretty much which isn't same. Yeah, really man.

I can't find the article There was a news reporter that supposedly visited this lab a good book if you're interested in Tesla Is man out of time by Margaret? Margaret Cheney and it's pretty detailed there's an account of a reporter meeting with Tesla in his lab in New York before it was destroyed And it's it's like it's all science fiction the moment he walks through the door to the hands of glass ball that lights up It's a wireless light bulb. That's inductively charged from a positively charged air around him Mm-hmm or I and I's there however you want to say that all sorts of crazy things that you wouldn't imagine well He also made what was it called like an electric bath or something basically? He was finding way because he was a germphobe was finding ways to all right purify a skin I guess you'd say and there's someone famous I can't remember who I didn't write it down would hang out with him And they would you know do these can't remember what he called white baths or something at whose good friends with Mark Twain Mark Twain that's who it was yeah And so they would basically he made machines that created ozone which we use now to actually and medical facilities to what purify think purify things No kidding ozone Yeah, some some of his buddies he didn't really have friends for say he was a pretty private and word-oriented Yeah, a lot of people say that he was sold it his entire life and never really even had a girlfriend Some of his homies Albert Einstein Mark Twain not super people no But anyway after his laboratory burned to the ground in New York He ended up moving to Colorado Springs, which is briefly depicted in did you ever see the prestige?

Yes, where I can't imagine a better person playing Tesla than David Bowie and that's where he goes Mark Hamill why that I want to say Mark Hamill Wolverine yeah goes to duplicate himself that guy's boiler and Jack man huge huge Jesus tongue huge, but yes boiler That's where he goes Yeah, I guess Tesla gives him the invention to multiply himself because he can multiply hats Right, but his teleportation or time travel and he ends up with a double of himself Oh, he ends up with a whole bunch of dead doubles of himself right and then he kills at the end spoiler It's like oh, how did you survive? It's like oh you didn't survive right your double is just here now Yeah, I guess kind of creepy but crazy to be famous and rich fucking great movie Yeah, the other guy was doing it with his twin right was that bail Christian Bailey? Yeah, fantastic. It is really good.

Maybe sorry Sorry, we just ruined it I mean it all it sucks that he lost so much research and so many things in New York But once you get to Colorado Springs not that he didn't get in some trouble out there for soaking up the power grid But you know he was allowed to really get into some crazy experiments You had some some of the the later ideas that you wanted to talk about yeah So what he believed in was like basically he thought hey We can create wireless energy and give it to everyone in the world for free Which no one like the idea of because no one can make money off of it right you can't monetize it But though patents he had for this wireless energy was basically what DARPA made with harp It basically was a large radio tower that yeah, they had to enter it that that energized ionosphere and would spread that energy And people to pull off that energized ionosphere for their power. Yeah, built that giant tower giant Tesla coil Gordon close tower Mm-hmm. Yeah, I've always wanted to make a Tesla coil. Supposedly they're pretty easy to make yeah It's not gonna be pretty cool, but it seems dangerous it makes a lot of noise and yeah It's a lot of dangerous at all because it's like static energy Yeah, so it's a low amperage right but yeah, it just basically pulls static energy out of there Yeah, that's amazing.

I mean how come no one's like made a way to utilize that house because it's so noisy I don't know there's those stupid ones that are in balls from Spencer's. Yeah, but I mean no one those aren't those not a Tesla coil it is now the ball with a thing you put your hand to it. Yeah, does that not as a cool sure it is Yeah, that's what it is. What does it need power?

Well, that's a cool as any power. How's that? Yeah, I guess it is isn't it yeah, it's a first-person close to the Close doesn't touch you what if there's a vacuum in there? Yeah, I think so that way you can actually know it have to be it's probably Zion Neon or Zion gas so it lights up right that color.

Oh, yeah, it's just a color. Yeah, make it pink Which you also invented by the way. Yeah, so he basically invented wireless electricity He would be able to hold a light bulb in his hand and it would just light up when he got close enough to his Tesla coil in the 1890s yeah in the 1890s well, it's actually 1880s because he died in 91 doesn't matter. But yeah, anyways late 1800s wireless light bulbs Yeah, and you see you can see for frame of reference.

No one had seen a movie or Moving pictures until 1901 just for a while. He's over here like oh, yeah, you don't know what science fiction is yet Let me show you yeah, supposedly he could create ball lightning. Did you just do not the ball and he's always been super They don't have any evidence of ball lightning, but they'd like yeah, we're pretty sure it exists But we don't have any video proof or right incredibly rare Supposedly he knew how to like manifest it like artificially in Islam It's a very slow moving ball of electricity. You can see that you can see they would like float above the ground and then all of a sudden Be sure to go something just like once I found a ground of a dispute this bit.

Yeah, he uh, he invented some crazy stuff, man He uh invented while he was working on something called a death ray basically. He was all about peace I know it's called death ray. He sometimes it was called a piece ray. He called the piece ray initially Yeah, it was basically a weapon to end all wars basically once you had this it can kill anything shoot anything out of the air and if everyone had one No, it would fight it sounds like it was a directed EMP like it would cause things to fail I can focus beam or something.

Well, that's what it was it was a it was a charge particle beam What so you know and he had been on record before saying it's not a death ray There's no such thing as a ray that can kill you, you know Even using all the power New York City if we generated a ray and a person was twenty foot away It wouldn't hurt them because it would dissipate by the time it got to him right that what he would do was doing was actually Energizing particles and those particles were what would he had some crazy invention where it was an open ended vacuum tube, right? So he would use like heated plasma and it would be one end so particles could pass through it But it was still a vacuum inside the tube whoa like stuff We don't like that seems impossible to make yeah, like I can have a vacuum with one end open We're still trying to figure out what he was talking about But that's what sucks because he was so brilliant and very rarely wrote shit down without him most of his ideas We can't figure out yeah, I mean he called it. I think tele tele teleforce was still of course That's basically what the particle beam weapon was oh, and then he would use electricity charge particles and shoot them out at high speeds Basically little pellets, which is basically a rail gun that we are just now starting to develop No way except for we use magnetism said electricity, which is minus well have been magnet. I mean sure it was mission.

Yeah, it's our particles So do you know what his last patent was no you're gonna have your mind blown please do you know what a V to L is? It's all very cool take off and landing yeah, or what's vertical takeoff and landing okay? Yeah, his last patent was a vertical takeoff plane. No shit.

Yeah, I didn't know and that's again something that we didn't and Start using I mean I'm sure his patents have been picked dry by now, but or stolen or stolen I mean my pick drive but it just seems like it sucks something like that Who do we have nowadays like that I say Elon Musk maybe but a lot of his things were purchased who Musk yeah, he didn't where he made all his money was PayPal PayPal was already built Yeah, so he is more like the he is more a citizen Yeah, but he's cool Tom's medicine no Yes, and I think he's an important person because I mean I can credit him almost directly for people even knowing the name Tesla because he Car company he purchased so he didn't make the car company either no what the fuck so he's like an Edison I know this yeah, it's a little aggravating now. He's not really I mean guess he's good at picking stuff out going We're gonna take this oh yeah, I mean he's successful and is very talented at well That's like the home battery stuff that he's making right like I don't know if you know this listener But he's making a basically a supercell battery array that you'll put in your house somewhere basically solar power charging up And you'll be able to run your house off of it and not have to have electricity That'd be amazing man. I thought I could sell around my house I just don't think it's there yet. It's not there I mean they're very expensive and depending on what county you live in you know Berkeley County They actually for taxi for it.

What the fuck it ends up at least for a while costing you more to have solar panels Like you're gonna live in your house for 30 years Yeah, it's worth it because eventually you'll pay off those fines well I mean that can't be anything but the company having their hands are having having having a say in it Yeah, it is a bar for motherfuckers, right? It's all money man. That is um what's the thing in government? They do See what money no where they're like hey, hey, you should pass these laws.

Oh, a lot of this. Yeah, that's lobbying us And it's core right there. Yeah for sure. Hey, it's free power.

Yeah, let's tax these people. Wait, why would we tax them for making the environment better? infrastructure sure Well, right and that's that's why that dude was able to change the world because he didn't care like if you care too much about money and not Not the invention then you're not going to continue innovating You know everyone says America's great I think America's great, but a lot of our like public things suck like stuff that's free Yeah, England's like not even free but like England's Wi-Fi or not Wi-Fi but England's internet is like retarded better than ours Oh, and that's not even close to South Korea. Yeah, it's like the fastest internet in the world Why can't we do that like our what we would consider fiber?

You know a gigabit connection. Yeah, which is like rule over his base in Asia. Yeah, there's no reason they can't have global Wi-Fi No, at this point. There's no reason you can't see why Wi-Fi.

Yeah, if anything make a government agency that says hey This is the government's Wi-Fi. It's not time Warner. It's not Comcast. It's a government owned and you know I did read somewhere speaking of must that and it seems to go back to them You know the innovators on a lot of these huge projects But I did read some more recently that Bill Gates must warm up it Yeah, a lot of big name wealthy guys are working on global data like global free data They're gonna cover the earth in the internet Well, you know and the thing is that's kind of kind of sucky Comcast or AT&T every modem that they install has a free Access if you are an AT&T user, right?

Don't be a dick. I'd like that should have my house Well, obviously if you know what you're doing you block it because you know, I mean you don't want people just have open access to your network No, but it's as easy as them installing, you know on the telephone poles or on the base stations where they split So neighborhoods to go to each individual house just to have a little wireless thing there Yeah, and I mean I don't think politically I don't want to be political but some things affect my life and the net neutrality laws being overturned Oh my god I don't think we've even really started seeing the effects of that yet if you don't know what that means that means that a provider can offer incentives to vendors So like for example Comcast can offer incentives to Netflix to give them priority over other things on their network So Netflix will automatically run better than Hulu. That's just the tip of the iceberg That also means that they can they can screw with you depending on what services use So like if Sony decides that they want to give your service provider a shitload of money They can make an Xbox run like shit. Yeah, that's where and also that should be illegal.

Yeah, it totally should it should just be open Hey, let me use what I want to use. That's also not even half. Oh, yeah No, they're also allowed to sell your information. They're allowed to sell your searches.

They're allowed to sell who what providers you use what vendors you use What your internet searches are they've started opening the floodgates of internet activity for everyone And they're using it to not only sell you products sell that information to advertisers But what I think most people don't know is if you have a Facebook You've already agreed all this and they're using everything you look at on Facebook and every post They're taking all that information is called big data and they basically collect it and use machine learning Which is another topic we've touched on Google AdWords to I've been doing it for the last 10 years It's like they know what you like and they'll give you ads about it. Yeah, it happens on your phone You step on your phone happens on your phone. Yeah, oh, did you hear about the latest thing with video games? Oh, oh get this shit What so I can't remember which one is it activation or EA has a patent and basically it's so if you're in a multiplayer game Let's say the new Call of Duty coming out, right?

Well, it's gonna have loot boxes sure so let's say it takes all your data from the games you've played previously Right and they go well He really likes this style of gun so we're gonna put him in a game with someone who's better than him that has that gun so that you think Man if I had that gun I'd be better. Oh, yeah, so it's gonna put you in a crappier match I think that's already happening I think it is too man because sometimes you're playing your life because I play a shitload of Call of Duty and This most recent version of the one that came out last November There are many many many guns that I don't have now I I spent a little bit of money on on care packages supply drops whatever you want to call them, you know in game purchases But for the most part I just let the you know the game accumulate, you know what I'm supposed to be getting don't have any of that Shit, I mean there's a ton of stuff every year and I can see where and I get killed by that shit all the time I mean, I know the gun because it tells you what guns you will see that's where I'm like I need that gun though look your dandy's the shotgun a lot Right, hey, look, there's this new shotgun that you can get it's better than yours It's better than yours, so we'll put him not even in the same game with some of that But in a game where someone who's just a little bit better than you right there they can fuck with you with the match Yeah, yeah, any just to make it look like if I had that gun I would be as good as that guy You know it's messed up in really difficult matches I get surveys at the end of the match and it'll ask me if I had fun. No way. Yeah, you serious?

Yeah happens all the time and do you say no every time? Yes, because usually that means they're fucking with the match somehow. Yeah, they're testing out going Oh, and did you did you like they just like playing with these harder guys? Yeah, I don't want to get into it because oh man, I know big data is one we could do I know lots of shit about how they fuck with me in just that game.

Yeah, that's like, you know Basically all these loot boxes are basically it's gambling trying to lose boxes are now But the same concept is translate to all consumers in no absolutely But I really think there should be some sort of not what's the word? I'm looking for like where the government puts a thing on its hand regulation regulation filter just some sort of regulation saying I mean cuz my daughter yeah some regulation on how they can fuck with you Well, even though even like these loot boxes like my daughter's playing a game like she's a kid like she's gonna be like Oh, I'll just keep buying these until yeah, just like pay to play games on your phone. Yeah. Yeah, yeah Yeah, so we take it and then the game should be a regulation Yeah, and then it all comes about collecting that item.

Yeah, so it's like let's not I mean you remember when mobile games first came out And I was like do mobile games are killing the console. Yeah, I'm killing console now What is every single mobile game something that you need to play? You don't even play yeah, you're just going and click a couple times Oh, yeah, and my wife refuses to spend money. Yeah, I mean especially on mobile games So I think out of my she will wait it out She plays some kind of fucking Disney game where it's like, you know, you build up your own park Oh, yeah, refuses to spend money on the ship.

I think I will wait on it And I played the Star Wars game. That's like what's the one that they have all the commercials for now? It's like the mobile game. Yeah, yeah, I know what you're saying not command and cocker But it's something like that yeah, clang clashing clang clang clang clang clang clang.

Yeah, the Star Wars game That's exactly like it. I played it for a while and it makes you want to buy it It makes you and it doesn't really help that much because all it does is upgrade your shit So you can find more people and those people are stronger than you so you want to spend more money you still like No, I'm deleting this for my phone You start off in like for the first few hours you're like dude, this is on progress and really well This is fun fun fun fun fun and then you hit that fucking wall Yeah, where it's like oh no It'll take you know another 17 hours of gameplay to get up to here Or you can spend it all night on which is unfair because what RPG players and doesn't dragons players realized you know 30 years ago It's fun to progress and it's fun to have miniature goals that make you a little bit better and it's You know makes you a little more powerful and you can fight more powerful things But I want to be a challenge and you know that incremental upgrade is exciting You know it keeps you coming back well, then they attach they monetize that yeah in these fucking mobile games and now console games Well, and you get fucking hooked on the shit I agree with you man. They should fucking regulate that I mean at least well There's I would say at least put a sticker on their saying hey this game contains blow-blah blah and or have to be 18 Or ordered by this game now because it has a gambling thing in it That was just not them for doing it because there are no I mean first player games are gonna be going out the window You know what they're doing now that now all mobile games they have it when I was talking about games Sorry, but listen all mobile games. They have it where I'm sorry, but I'm gonna continue talking about games They sell add-ons and stuff for games at different prices depending on your data So me and you really a game and if I'm more likely to buy something at $3 you're more likely to buy something $8 I'll get charged $3 you'll get charged $8 for the same exact thing.

I never thought about that But I can see that happening I mean fuck up it makes sense for him at capitalist point of view certainly I mean supply to man. Yes guy wants it more than this guy. So this guy's gonna pay more for it interesting But it's gonna ruin everything Yeah, make make money on the people that pay and you know offer special to the people they don't know It's gonna fix it though what I was talking about earlier to you machine learning being able to create games by what you describe What you want? Yeah, it's like hey, I want a game like Skyrim, but only bazookas and everyone looks like a fish And it'll be able to make it'll be able to spit that game out fairly quickly within I mean a few days of processing I'm assuming once they learn how to code you know I hate I always go back to AI Anyways, I'm interested in science stuff.

No sciencey. I was pretty sciency. You know so much that up cut out what just other rant on video games Yeah, it's a plane shadow mortar and that's it's loot boxes and like to get the better orks Yeah, it's been money to get them they put loot boxes and shadow work. Yeah, you don't you know it works live in boxes?

That's a shame because the first one didn't have that I mean you can play you don't have to buy the boxes You can play and eventually you might get a legendary work show up that you can take over maybe I've seen two What's the point though when you can go spin five dollars and get four legendary works immediately now? Well, what's the point of the legendary works? Well, cuz you're not there on your own they're automatically on your own your side So you can share them in or because I've only seen two in the game so far Is it a multiplayer game now? Who cares if you want to get up on oh it is more clear now Is it really you can raid other people's towers and they can raid yours and you can change on that I mean, it's not like you don't play with other people like me and you would never see each other but I could you could Try to raid my castle so they made it like clash clans but with mortar.

Yeah, man. Sorry. I hate everything I suck you in Yeah, that's a rant. Yeah a little bit.

It's like a passionate about it So the whole reason I was immediately down other than him just being one of my favorite dudes of all time Was mostly just the lack of recognition the Tesla gets yeah, I mean most of the modern world wouldn't be this way it might It just might take a long yeah, exactly. I mean somebody would have figured it out you think maybe you don't know I mean it might have been suppressed. I mean there's how many great ideas are there they get suppressed just for money Oh, yeah, the government catches that guy first and they're like hey government or just you know a large company I mean we still depend on oil for fucking everything and we don't have to know there's technologies surpassed it Mm-hmm, but we fucking need it for plastic and for running our cars and fucking everything else man hip and solar is all you need kind of I mean Yeah, but I don't know. I'm kind of glad we did this one.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Tesla man He's just a it was a cool guy just just randomly at the end because I've just remembered it He didn't discover x-rays, but he did do a lot of work with X-rays. Oh, yeah, I know where you're going with this Yeah, yeah, and he ended up like making an x-ray gun. Oh, that wasn't the part I was talking about But he knew that it was dangerous really yeah Like he could tell early on like he either got some sort of like lesions on his hand or something from x-raying his hand But he knew that it was dangerous just based on the results And he tried to warn Edison because he knew Edison was doing a lot of x-ray experiments and totally good disregard of them big surprise He's huge back one of Edison's minions ended up having to get his arms amputated from being shot with so many fucking x-rays Sweet what an asshole well There's some using him that actually still houses photos of I guess mark twain and Tesla hang out and shoot each other with x-rays in front of Photographic film and so there's pictures of them like they're skeletons and shit because they were just having some of that Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, I'm just friends.

We're most brilliant comedians of all time most satirical writers. I thought you're not me Have yours looked up YouTube videos of a Tesla gun no someone basically made a handheld Tesla coil gun that marks It's cool pretty badass like a steady charge gun. Yeah, that's dope. It's pretty cool looking It's like has a big backpack look like a ghostbuster and then it goes down to this little thing.

No, that's awesome Can you catch it? I mean sure you can always cross the street Anyway, that's been Tesla man. I don't think I have I don't have nothing else. You got anything else.

Yeah, not really He's an interesting dude, man. Yeah, I get excited about smart people like that I want to learn what they I want to know how they do. You know, he's like only slept like four hours a night Yeah, a lot of billion people are that way. Yeah, I wish I was like I love sleep.

She's in love with the pigeon I did not know that yeah He fed pigeons are regularly and there was a particular white pigeon that he was particularly fond of Mm-hmm that he said that he could think of and she would appear he would a little crazy life that he matched me to a pigeon Is that where you're going with it? Yeah, I don't know if you had a dick Yeah, castrated itself. That's not castration. That's a no.

You probably did what you call me cut the dick amp balls off I the end of the box. You know That's it wait when you when we decided to call it today. All right, well, yeah, man Go ahead check us out on Facebook Twitter all the good places email us Email pod at gmail and check us out spread the word let people listen to us email us Let us know where we got it wrong where we got right what you like what you ate Yeah, tell us where we're fucking out I mean just so many emails other than the last episode if you downloaded that before I fixed it because I know where I thought that
