The Not-So-Christian Workplace with Elle Hargis

Questions: 1. What is one piece of advice you would tell the younger you? 2. Tell us a little bit about your work history 3. As Christians, should we only work in a Christian workplace? Matthew 9:10 “10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” We are called in the great commission at the end of Matthew 28 to go and make disciples of all nations and share the gospel with every type of person that doesn't yet know him, so why would we want to exclude ourselves? 4. When looking at Jesus’ life, we can see that he was constantly around people who maybe didn’t know or believe in him. In the workplace this is similar, and as a teacher, there’s a good chance you’re around a lot of kids who don’t know Jesus. How do you feel like you can show Jesus to people in the workplace when you aren’t working in a Christian workplace? Exodus 34 This isn't easy though, Jesus paid for my sin and resurrecting, setting me right forever with my heavenly father determines my joy because that is where my fulfillment is in. 5. What the bible says about work: Colossians 3:23 “whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” Ephesians 6:6 “Work hard, but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” As a Chrisitan do you feel like there are some different considerations that go into a job when looking for jobs or places to work? we should always look at the character of people (if possible) who are in that workplace but also that shouldn't necessarily be something that distracts you because we are called to be a light to those people who are in the darkness.
