THE NTEB HOUSE CHURCH SUNDAY SERVICE: A Doorkeeper In The House Of My God

We live in a day and age where all the focus is on you, even within the Christian Church this emphasis is constantly present. From self help and self love all the way up to a never-ending barrage of selfies, the idea of living a life of service towards others is abhorrent to the minds of most people. The true Christian live is a sacrificial life. Yes the Bible absolutely does say that if you’re saved, you will reign as “kings and priests” with King Jesus during the Millennium. But that’s then, in the future, now we better make peace with the idea of being a doorkeeper. Evangelist Dwight L. Moody said “Moses spent forty years thinking he was somebody; forty years learning he was nobody; and forty years discovering what God can do with a nobody.” That’s good preaching. In fact, every great man and woman that God has used in His service over the past two thousand years has had one thing in common. They all came to serve, they were all happy with being mere doorkeepers in the Church of God because there was no better place to be. Have you ever been to a fancy hotel, restaurant or any of the apartments on 5th Avenue in New York City? They all have doorkeepers who open the doors to let you in and let you out. It is a simple, thankless job that draws little to no attention to the person operating the door, and it’s a beautiful picture of the life that all Christians who are saved called to live.
