The Odyssey

Welcome to Play, Pause, Rewind! The world’s greatest media podcast, maybe. This week, we take a look at Christopher Nolan’s latest film, an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. The Odyssey is one of the oldest surviving works of literature dating back to oral storytelling traditions from almost 2,900 years ago. Attributed to Homer, The Odyssey follows Greek warrior Odysseus on his long journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Nolan’s adaptation updates the myth and incorporates some thematic work that resonates with modern audiences while working to maintain the spirit of the original epic poem. The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel, Benny Safdie, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Travis Scott, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, Robert Pattinson, and many more.
