Ohio Grassman | Paranormal Podcast This episode we went full hometown hero mode and covered the Ohio Grassman — our very own Buckeye State Bigfoot that we, two native Ohioans who are very into paranormal stuff, somehow had never heard of until recently, which says something, but also says nothing, because the encounters we found are genuinely hard to dismiss. We broke down the lore of this seven to nine foot tall, 800 to 1000 pound, aggressively territorial, absolutely terrible-smelling creature that builds grass nests, hunts deer, travels in family groups, and apparently has a particular fondness for lurking around Salt Fork State Park with its distinctly orange eyes. We went through a stack of encounters spanning from 1896 all the way to 2006, including a family that saw it so often their daughter named it as a pet, a researcher who found a nest big enough for three grown men, and a listener submission from an 11 year old who stumbled upon a massive den in the snow with hair clumps, giant footprints, and three loud knocks from the tree line that sent his dad sprinting for the ATV. We both landed on believable and viable respectively — because when multiple independent stories share the same specific behaviors like the wood knocking, the nest building, and the stench, it's hard to write the whole thing off as cornfield paranoia.
