The Old Boots
from The Sportsman's Light · host Patrick
Every outdoorsman has a pair of old boots he can't throw away. Resoled twice, scarred by rock and briar, molded perfectly to his feet by a thousand miles — they're not just gear anymore, they're testimony. Every scuff is a story of somewhere God brought him through. At the end of forty years in the wilderness, Moses pointed the people to an overlooked miracle: your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell. Not the dramatic miracles — the daily ones. Four decades of quiet, unnoticed provision, stitched into the very sandals on their feet.Look down at your own life the same way. The years you walked through that should have broken you. The provision that arrived, month after ordinary month. The strength that held when it shouldn't have. God's faithfulness is usually less like lightning and more like boots that somehow never wore out. Remember the miles. Thank the One who kept you shod for all of them.Prayer:Lord, thank You for the unnoticed miracles — the daily provision, the strength that held, the ways You kept me through miles I barely remember walking.Forgive me for taking Your quiet faithfulness for granted. Today I look back and say it plainly: You have never failed me. Amen.Challenge:Find the oldest piece of outdoor gear you own — boots, a knife, a rod. Hold it and recount the years it represents. Then list five specific ways God quietly provided for you across those same years. Thank Him for each one.
