In which the child awakens in a strange room and takes quiet solace among the graves of a churchyard, encountering an aged widow who shares her long journey of sorrow and remembrance. Later, accompanying two whimsical performers bearing the Punch and Judy show, she joins them on a dusty road toward the races, where merry jests mingle with the weary trudging of burdened men under a cloudy moon.
