After her father’s sudden passing, Shannon was left with an inheritance that allowed her to take a community Facebook page into Canada’s first non-profit born and run on social media. Mamas for Mamas is a now a national charitable organization that supports mothers and caregivers (including men, trans, non-binary, and two-spirit clients in crisis) by providing ongoing support to individuals and families facing various poverty-related struggles. This includes emotional poverty.
