On the 5th of May, 1893 the Western Mail reported on a Reuter’s telegram from Aden: “There is much anxiety here regarding the steamship Khiva, which left Bombay for Jeddah and other ports on April 12 with a very large number of Mussulman pilgrims aboard, who were going to Mecca, and has been several days overdue.
