The Ones Who Help You on Your Journey | Pro Guatemalan Soccer Player Enrique Hauessler
from Because Football · host Andrew Baggaley
Welcome to Episode 8 of the Because Football Podcast presented by Transform Soccer. Our guest is Quique Hauessler of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Quique played at the professional level in Guatemala and at NCAA Division 1, 2 and NJCAA (Junior College) level in the United States. He has experienced soccer in many different environments, from being a part of Guatemala's top youth soccer academy, to joining an elite team for showcases in the United States. Although as a young boy he hated soccer and used to hide from his soccer coach so he wouldn't have to play, something switched at age 7 and from then on the game was his driving passion. As a ball boy for professional teams, he was enamored with the players and they took on a superhero status in his eyes. In this episode, we discuss the pivotal moments and influential people that facilitated his love for the game. From his first coach, to his parents, and then university coaches, many people were a part of his journey and without them, he likely would not have made it so far. But for all the great memories and highlights of his career, he is also transparent about some of the challenges - injuries, loneliness, mistreatment from professional clubs, and lack of adequate facilities and support staff. This is a great episode for soccer parents and players who want an example of the long, winding journey of a passionate soccer player You can learn more about Quique below: https://www.linkedin.com/in/enriquehaeussler/ Find out more about our Transform Soccer programs here: LinkedIn Website Instagram Facebook
