Today the source code of the Windows Library for JavaScript (WinJS) is being released under the Apache 2.0 license as an Open Source project by Microsoft Open Technologies (MS Open Tech). The source code is available now on GitHub where you are welcome and we encourage you to try it out, provide feedback, and submit contributions.Additionally, WinJS is taking its first steps to becoming cross-platform by supporting browsers and other devices. Web developers can now take advantage of high-quality controls and infrastructure, and existing WinJS developers can expand their reach beyond Windows to the web and non-Windows devices. Why Do App Developers Still Live with Their Moms? The virtual disappearance of major white-collar employers like Eastman Kodak and Westinghouse — once fairly reliable career on-ramps — young talent is focusing on entrepreneurship as a path forward. Some kids are skipping college entirely and heading straight into business, pointing to the success of dropouts like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg. But unschooled entrepreneurship is unlikely to end happily for most. In 2001, the Communication Commission of Kenya reported that the number of mobile phone subscribers had "increased to a staggering 330,000." Looking back, that figure seems laughable; in 2013 the same commission reported 30 million subscribers.The scene is no different across Africa; mobile phone penetration has grown from 1% in 2000 to 54% in 2012.
