The Oral Law and Passover

 In the Hebrew scriptures it is written That this feast should be remembered throughout all generations. What is not written , is how. This is where the Jewish leaders of old were called upon to formulate a plan of order, We call it a Seder and the instructions for this feast are written today in a book we call The Haggadah-The Telling. This is a ceremony that has been performed for centuries down through the ages countless times. Today Many who are not accustomed with Jewish culture are taking an interest in Passover and the Seder. My respected Rabbi taught me well when he said " if Gentiles wish to know about Judaism they can go to a library, If they wish to know about Jews, they can go to a Synagogue" So in many places the difference between a Passover service and a demonstration of a Passover service is not recognized. The sages of old had a task to keep the Chosen people united as one. It was with this in mind that they made many decisions, some of which are still in effect today. The oral law is now captured upon what we may refer to as a hard copy. So are the Instructions given to Moses by G-d upon Mt. Sinai, Tradition may well be the marriage of the two. As in any marriage, there will be divisions, Hopefully Love will overcome and unity will be the outcome. Chag Sameach- Joyous Festival. Rebbe T.
