Speaker: John WardLugh gave his name to the cross quarter day of harvest time, but according to the Book of Invasions, the inspiration for it is usually given as a mourning ceremony for his deceased foster-mother Tailtiu, to whom the festival was named the Fair of Tailteann. The fair was held on the banks of the River Blackwater in what is now Teltown in County Meath over the last two weeks of July and culminating on the first day of August being of course, Lughnasa.© 2021-2022 Racontour Productions.
