The origins of coaching - Interview with Pamela Richarde MCC
from iichcoaching podcast · host Bertrand Beauregard
Hi, My name is Bertrand Beauregard. I have been practicing coaching for more than 15 years. I am Master Coach MCC and ACTC certified my ICF, Senior practitioner EIA and Mentor Supervisor ESIA accredited my EMCC. During the writing of my new book on mentor-coaching, I had the opportunity to interview leaders who worked with the founders of ICF and the coaching pioneers. My book on mentor-coaching is for leaders and clients who want to understand the world of coaching, and for coachs aiming to improve their coaching practice and get an ICF credential. In this book, as a coach, you will understand where we come from, where do we belong and where we are going. We explore the foundations of coaching, the origins of the federations and its credential, how to choose a coach, a mentor-coach, a supervisor and a school. Then, we will focus on the ICF certifications and how to get your credential. This book is perfect to get more clarity about the process of certification. I will share many advice and technics to improve your level of practice of the core competencies. To pay homage to our legacy in coaching, I decided to host a new podcast interviewing Pamela Richarde who is an MCC and a pioneer in coaching. She is a passionate, humble, committed and compassionate being. I felt that we can learn so much from her experience, her wisdom and mastery in coaching. This interview covers the origins of coaching, the foundations of ICF, the personality of the founders, the creation of the core competencies and the code of ethics, the essence of coaching, the differences between coaching, mentoring and supervision, the future in coaching, the impact of AI, and… glimpse of wisdom. During this conversation, you will get insights about what is mastery in coaching, which is not about doing but being. It means allowing ourselves to surrender to what is, being curious, not attached, exploring the sacred space of not knowing. May this interview inspire us to deepen our practice to be fully in service. Again, I express my gratitude to the pioneers that came before us, the amount of work that has been done by the federation to structure our profession, the commitment of the volunteers, and to any of us, daring to explore the inner world. May we use our skills to benefit others. May we express our true potential.
