The Other Wise Man follows Artaban, a Persian Magian who sells all his possessions to buy three precious gems — a sapphire, a ruby, and a pearl — as gifts for the promised King. But before he can join the other Wise Men, a dying stranger, a mother's terrorised child, and a girl facing slavery each claim a jewel in turn.
