It's never gonna stop you. You're done, bro. He's referring to Outlander as Adele's favorite show of all time. Yeah.
It's the greatest TV show ever made in the history of TV shows. That's exactly right. According to Adele. That's exactly right.
Yeah. There's nothing else that compares now. I'm fully, completely committed. I am...
I don't know. I'm immersed. I'm in love. I'm obsessed.
It's addiction. It started Outlander, for those of you who don't know. Can you explain it? I don't know.
I mean, it's not a new show. It's like... It's been around for a long, long term. Quite a while.
Yeah. And my parents suggested this show to me years and years ago. They're like, you should try this Outlander. And it was kind of, it seemed like, around the time of when people were also watching Game of Thrones.
There was Game of Thrones or Outlander. You were kind of either one or the other, but my parents watched both. And they seemed to like Outlander better. And whenever they described it, I always just sort of immediately went out of my head.
I'm not interested. We never really got into binge-watching shows. Yeah. I was not at that place.
We haven't been to binge-watching shows. We did initially when we got together. Yeah, we watched The Walking Dead. And interestingly, Darryl.
Yes. Darryl. Hot Darryl. Interestingly, yes.
You like him. I mean, I did not like him. You were hot for him. I don't know if I go that far.
I admire it. I admired Darryl. What is this? What is this?
What you're talking about? Who's this? So do I. That guy's a lot better than you, Luke.
Yeah. Which guy? Hey, Luke, that guy's a lot better than you. That guy's a good guy.
He's better than you. Whether he's a fictional character or not, it doesn't matter. Better than you. This is good.
Better than we're talking about, James. He's not fictional. He's real, you know. He does walk this earth.
He's actor because he's also better than you. He is. You read about him? Look at his Wikipedia.
Sam. So much better than you. Yes, he is. Comparison is the thief of joy.
So the main, one of the main, not the main character. The main character is Claire. Yeah. This woman who's traveled somehow traveled back in time through stones.
Spoiler alert. It's an old show, though. Nobody knows. No, no, that's what I'm saying.
This is the whole episode. So she ends up in the 1700s and hooks up with this Scottish Highlander. Insanely hot guy. Name, Jamie.
But the thing, Darryl, but Darryl, these are your last TV crush. Now, Jamie, is it fair to say that Jamie, is it, is a TV crush for you or is it just me? See, I don't know if I'm crushing on him as much as you are. I actually was more of like, he's fine.
I love him. I love him. Jamie, we love you. Well, I just had the realization that I'm the one.
I was like, I think this is actually your crush. This is about me. Because I don't know. I actually just love the show, to be honest.
I'm not really like, yeah, I'm not. It doesn't have the same sort of Darryl thing for me. Because Darryl, you thought was legit sexy. He was sexy to me.
But you don't think Jamie's sexy? I mean, it's not really my, yeah. He's maybe a little too sculpted for my taste. He's very sculpted.
Yeah. And I tend to... Yeah, and it's true. It's me.
It's you. Oh my God. Well, so I just recently started to circle back as to why. Because this was recommended to me many years ago to watch Outlander.
In January of this year, I discovered that I could watch Outlander, and it was very thrilling. And I watch it while I'm mostly on the treadmill. That's how it started out. I would put an episode on Hop on the treadmill.
And it made kind of like for me working out tolerable because I didn't really love it and I get bored and distracted. And anyway, trying to, you know, getting closer to 50, everyone. And so I'm trying to get healthy and get some steps in. And you're doing it.
Thanks to the shows. Thanks to the shows. You started binge-watching shows. Yes.
But not binge-watching it because you only watched one episode while you walked. Right. Yeah. Just one.
It's not a binge watch. True. You would watch one a day, but you'd stop at that one episode, however. Yes.
Yes. Recently now, you're watching it all the time. So now it is bingeing. Now it is, it's approaching.
Now it is addiction. Now it is something else. And it's not because of Jamie. Now it's the story.
I love the story so much. I actually love all the characters. And I love Claire. You love Claire.
I do. I love like, you know, what she's going to do and who is she? She's complex and interesting. And yeah.
So I mean, as much as I love Jamie and Claire, I mean, I'm interested in their relationship and their dynamics. And it's not perfect, you know, but it's like they find their way to always to stay together. And, but I do adore the show. You guys that I'm going to say something that I don't know if I've ever said before, but I actually would want to go back and watch it again from the beginning.
That's how much I love it. I mean, I, yeah, because I'm like, oh, I want to relive it all over again. Yeah. I want to talk to about it with people.
They're like, Oh, I dropped off on season this or whatever when they went to America, but well, I have loved every single journey, every season, every place they've gone. I love it. Yeah. Cause you're, you're, you're watching of the show accelerated.
Yeah. Then you start, you started watching it when you weren't walking on the treadmill. And now you're watching it like in bed. Yeah.
It's like really, it's kind of reaching a real, and actually the, the series is culminating now. You were bombed. I'm now, I finished all of the ones that were available on Netflix. We have a Netflix subscription.
And now I have to subscribe to stars because even season seven is on stars. So I have to at least subscribe to watch it and then, you know, try to remember to get rid of it. But yeah, I don't have a choice in the matter. It's got to happen.
So yeah. And then I guess we're going to do season eight. And then I believe they said that's going to be their last season. They announced it.
That's the last season. Heartbreaking. So yeah, I'm very much into it. And you, you've, you've been like very, I don't want to say insecure about it, but you've had like kind of weird reaction to the show.
It's actually kind of really tweak you. It's kind of tweaked me because I feel very secure in our relationship. Good. You know, but that hasn't necessarily characterized my past.
I've been on a very, you can be insecure, very insecure. You can be jealous and jealous. And actually I get really depressed. The jealousy is what would take the form of just this like depression.
And this, it was a really, it was a thing that I really struggled with, like with myself as need. If you're not still talking about Jamie, imagine you are. You're still talking about Jamie. Where's the standard?
That's his real name. Sam, did you know that he's in New York Times best selling offer? Yes. He's also a clothing designer.
Yes. That would be really good for that would be interesting for you, Delwood. You can collaborate. He's also a philanthropist, of course.
I'm willing to let you go for this for this guy. Sam, Sam, you're him. You're sure you, you two would be great. I would be, because it would be good for you.
It would be good for you, Del. And I would be happy to see you happy because I've made that claim anyway. You think you got machine tuffins happening? You're talking about a contraction, honeymoon.
I want to hear about your... You didn't. You gave it a call you already mums. It's not.
I know it. But hey, talk about your tooth. It's actually me here. We talk about this, this realization.
What a dramatic procedure. Why don't you talk about that? Oh, I'm having, I'm having kind of a realization here. That four track man is me.
That's your little devil. That's like your insecurity talking. Because that's, yeah, like when I get insecure, I have that voice that comes in and just tells me I'm... Jamie's better than you and I'm gonna...
Yeah, I went... Just run off. It's just that easy. My previous relationships, I lived with that heavy.
And yeah, I've kind of like projected this whole, like as if you were obsessed with Jamie, because I'm looking at Jamie and going, like he's so, he's a finally beautiful man. Yeah. He's chiseled. Yeah.
But I think for me... You examine him a lot more than I do. No, I really examine him. I'm like, whoa.
And then the character, his character, I think, has been through his suffered. Yeah. And he has been sexually assaulted. He has been whipped, beaten, in prison.
I mean, and he, I think he understands suffering, so then understands women. And I feel like with myself, that's something that I, as much as I would like to say that I understand a woman's suffering, I've never been tied to a post in whipped or to my knowledge sexually assaulted. So I feel like he, I really, for some reason, it really tweaks me. I'm like, whoa.
He really under, he, because that's something that I've always wanted to be someone who understood. And I think, yeah. And I feel, he makes me, that character, there's several things about the show that make me feel insecure. Okay.
One is that, one is that there's this, and he's so brave. I mean, like, really brave. I mean, and also you realize that people had to be very brave. Yeah.
Then because, I know, because, and the thing that makes, that tweaks me about it is that, I mean, it's very historically, I think that they tried to make it historically accurate, which is great. And it's like, you look back and be like, wow, it really sucked back then. But what it, what it also says to me is that human history itself has a fucking shit show that almost never stops because it's just being constantly perpetuated by like, traumatized, insecure people that are just keeping this wheel of torture and confusion rolling as they project their insecurities on other people and men grasping for power and very fragile men. That's for sure.
Right. And by women, by like, yeah. So, and I feel like those things still exist. Totally.
So, so to me, it makes, it does make me anxious. So, so I'm, I'm super jealous of Jamie. The people, yeah, there's definitely the shitshell element in boy. It's definitely- They demonstrate it really well in that show. They do. They really do.
But when you're talking about the bravery, that is really true. And I think that can appear a lot of ways, brave acts. And it's not just fighting on the battlefield. It's these little stances that people take as well that change history.
And that's also what they're talking about are these small acts that then affect the ripple and the history. And I think that those acts are also very brave. And it also reminds you that knowledge is dangerous. And it's constantly being- People are trying to stamp out all the time, like knowledge.
Yes. You have to have tremendous- Again, bravery and courage to believe that the knowledge you are putting out there, it's almost worth more than your own personal safety. And that's what Claire does. She actually pretends to be a male doctor and writes this document that gets printed.
It gives people medical advice. And people were like, oh my gosh, what is this? Because it comes from a time later when she- Her future knowledge of things. And some people, though, some women start reading it and they do feel a little more empowered.
They're like, oh, well, this is what this means. And I should understand my body. And I should listen to my body instead of just being submissive and doing whatever my husband wants me to do. And there's a lot of commentary about the male, female dynamic and fear and submission and just how we've hated women speaking up in any way.
I mean, it's a rough history. It's a really, really rough history. And so Claire to me is very fascinating. And I adore her, actually.
I think I really admire her. I adore her. And she's also not like a super lovable fuzzy character. She's kind of cold at times.
But she doesn't have to be. She doesn't have to be some lovable woman to make her worth loving. It's like, I just think that whoever wrote it understands a lot of things. It's a woman.
I mean, I see a lot of female names for the directors of episodes and things like that. And I just think it's really impressive. It's really interesting. Mexican-American woman.
I don't know, specifically. I'm sure. Someone will correct me. But I really like it.
But yes, I do adore Jamie, but I'm not in love with him. Yeah. It really actually made me feel insecure. I'm sorry.
I mean, I'm sorry to hear that for you. Do you feel the same way now? Are you having this understanding that's different? Or is this dawning on you now that really I love the show?
I don't know. It's making me think about some things I hadn't thought about for a while. Because I went through this period where I most of my life leading where I was extremely insecure. And I didn't feel like, I don't know, I had a lot of doubts about myself.
And I felt- It's interesting to know that me watching the show was sort of like- Well, I think it coincided with me forgetting your birthday. Not forgetting your birthday, but I didn't forget your birthday. But I just wasn't able to- It just didn't give me a good birthday. And I was like, fucking Jamie, give me a good birthday.
And then it just kind of triggered a lot of reassessment of my- of maybe some things that I had taken for granted. And I just was like, wow, I got a lot of- I still have a lot of growing to do, a lot of deepening. I've got- And that's, you know, anyway. I really liked Murtaugh.
I haven't really seen that show. He's Jamie's godfather. I've seen bits and pieces of the show. Not that I don't love Jamie, but Murtaugh was kind of hot.
You thought he was hot? Yeah. I saw him a couple of times in the show. I didn't think he would- but yeah, he- okay.
I mean, maybe he's not as technically like physically- I don't know- his character was really interesting to me. Yeah. Well, this is good to know that you do like what you like about men is more idiosyncratic. It's more twerky.
It's more like quirky. It's more- A more character driven, I guess you could say. Like I'm more interested in who they are, how they present themselves. Their perfection is not your- That's never been interesting to me.
I mean, I can appreciate like, I can literally look at Jamie, Sam, you know, the guy. And yes, go like admire. It's lovely. He seems actually- I'll say it.
He seems like a nice guy, you know, like legitimately. And so does Claire. She seems like a really thoughtful, cool woman, you know. And they're both very physically, you know, socially-acceptably beautiful, good-looking, model-esque.
But yeah, I think the parts of Jamie that are appealing to me are his character, not so much his physical, you know, appearance. Yeah, like his personality. I do like the personality. Yeah.
I actually find him pretty. He is pretty. No, I'm saying he is, but yeah. I think he actually speaks pretty.
He is pretty. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Yeah.
And then he's a redhead too. It's like there's something about that. Something about- I don't know what that is, exactly. I don't know.
But I definitely want to do an Outlander tour in Scotland and England and like some sort of touristy thing. I would love to be like shuttle around on like a full-on like Harry Potter style, but like Outlander. That would be kind of cheesy, but you don't care. Are you kidding?
I would love that. Cheesy is like, give me all of the cheese. I would eat it up. I want to have like a mug.
I want to have like a sweatshirt. I want to have like my picture taken in front of Lolly Brock, you know. And yeah, I literally could care less about being cheesy. Yeah.
I just would bring me joy. Bring me joy. It's pretty more fun to be a nerd, huh? You know?
Life is way more fun to just like what you like and not care. It reminds me actually of one of my high school crushes. Okay. So he was a red head.
You have really interesting crushes. I should have been. So he was, I think like maybe two years older than me, maybe this was like a sophomore. He was a senior, I think, and he had red hair.
Like in a very large nose, you know? Like he just did. He had a really big ass nose. Totally.
And lots of freckles. It was almost like so many freckles where it almost becomes like one big freckle, you know, and these really big lips that almost look like they were covered in freckles and just this red curly hair. And he was a part of this like Dungeons and Dragons crew, which I have like no business. Like you guys, like I don't know anything about Dungeons and Dragons.
No interesting game playing the game. And so it was just him. He intrigued me because he was so, he seemed to so not care at all about fitting in in his class, you know? Like he just wore totally dorky, dorky clothes, you know, kind of like ill-fitting like dorky, just, you know, Dungeons and Dragons vibe.
And I just was kind of like, I just became really curious about him. And I'm like, he's hot. And I like, I just was like, what would it be like to be his girlfriend? I mean, he was not a popular person.
He was literally considered part of like his career. This is not good. This is not good. I found him fascinating.
It's golden knowledge to know that a girl could feel that way. Because I think I do. When you're young, when you're young, or when I was young, I thought that perfection had to be, I had to be, but you don't. Well, I mean, it depends on the person, I guess.
You're talking to me. And so this is what I like. You're awesome. Well, do you like perfectionism?
I mean, do you not do you expect that of me? No, no. This very special. We haven't talked about my two for the sick kitties.
I don't know. Should we just keep talking? I don't know. Then it would be past a half an hour.
People just do an outfit. It'd be too long. Maybe we'll have to talk about my two and the kitties later, huh? Something else is going to happen.
We're never again. It's just important to see. Maybe it's a real partner can be, you know? See, he's wrong.
He's wrong. He's wrong. Beautifully crafted piece of Cherokee jewelry, I think he would. I mean, I went to turn it down.
It'd be great. Even though he was weary from that hole, this is definitely your insecurity talking. He had a raging stone on the Atlantic Ocean. He would, he would.
Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with something helping you get a little push. This is your push. Yeah. Thank you for listening.
