The Paradox of Attention: Lessons on Getting Off of Life’s Stage

from Bad Thought Therapy™ · host C. Chérie Hardy

While attention (being noticed and nurtured) is a need, we must be mindful about how we seek it. Getting attention in the wrong ways and from the wrong people can be damaging and deadly. The paradox is that attention can be positive and negative. Therefore, we must make sure that our sense of self-worth and identity is not determined by neither praise nor criticism. Our strength must be rooted in the Divine One who created us. We must resist performing on life’s stage just for the applause or anything that can be fleeting like the wind.   Instead of seeking out attention from others, give yourself the right attention to live the BEST life possible. Most importantly, take time to FOCUS on God, the one who created life and love.
