The Paranoid Squirrel ep 1090

Acweorna! Episode 1090 of The Paranoid Squirrel Rock Show delivers another helping of Punk, Junk & Glunk—where melody meets mayhem and the volume control rarely gets a quiet night. This week we travel from surf-infused Californian punk to Scandinavian bar-room rock ’n’ roll, taking in sparkling power pop, politically charged riffs and high-octane North East noise along the way. Expect new singles, forthcoming-album tasters, a B-side with A+ credentials and a rehearsal-room recording too good to keep under wraps. We also put right last week’s accidental escape from Covers Corner, revisit the 100 Club for some gig-going observations and salute Cheetah Chrome with a blast of The Dead Boys. Elsewhere, there are musical connections involving Paul Collins and Brian James, silver-jubilee celebrations and an unexpected encounter with “Ant & Dec”. The episode was pre-recorded while Griff and I headed back to the 100 Club for another night of live music. No Last Nut this week—but there’s plenty of glorious racket before we run out of time. 01 Jonny Manak & The Depressives – Straightjacket Loose – Surf Rock – Bandcamp 02 Trash Kickers – What A Waste – Way Out, Somehow – Kino Records 03 Chevettes – Indigo Mind – Chevettes ep – Indigo Records 04 Perilous – Overwhelmed By Reality – Overwhelmed By Reality 7” – Sub-Culture 05 The Speedways – Angela Sincerely – All Bets Are Off – Beluga Records 06 Softjaw – Pleased With Me – Softjaw – Dream Machine Records 07 Diamond Dogs – I Took A Hard Turn – Similar Shakes Different Distortion – Wild Kingdom Records 08 TA-80 – TA-80 (On The Radio) – 25 – Allegedly Records 09 The Dead Boys – Sonic Reducer – Young Loud And Snotty – Sire Records 10 Electrics – You Don’t Know Me (Rehearsal) – Currently Unreleased 11 The Dirty Strangers – Shepherds Bush City Limits – Country ‘n’ West 10 – DS Records 12 LiVES – Burn – Ghosts – Sister 9 Records 13 The Almighty Zeros – Imitation Disease – Burn Out Baby – Smith & Miller Records 14 Pat Todd – We’re Outta Time – I’ll Dream Alone – Hound Gawd!
