The Patience of JESUS: On the Road to Emmaus | Pastor Courtney Hall

SCRIPTURE TEXT: Luke 24:13-49   The Bible presents no greater model of patience than the Messiah Himself, our Lord Jesus. Throughout His earthly life & ministry, Jesus exemplified the perfection of patience, but in this spring sermon series following Easter, we examine an episode of divine patience taught by the Resurrected Christ to two of His disciples while He walked with them on the road from Jerusalem to a village called Emmaus, on the very day that He had risen from the grave. Not only did the disciples not recognize Jesus at first, He also showed them how they had failed to recognize all that the Scriptures had promised about Him. As He patiently opened their eyes to the truth of the Scriptures, their hearts were ignited with excitement (Luke 24:32), until their eyes were opened to Him (Luke 24:31).
