The Peacemaker: The Paternity of Peace
from Erindale Bible Chapel · host Erindale Bible Chapel
Conflict surrounds us. Nations wage war. Communities are divided. Families experience painful tension. Friendships fracture over misunderstandings. Even within our own hearts, we often wrestle with anxiety, resentment, and anger. Ever since humanity rebelled against God, broken relationships have become one of the most visible consequences of sin. We long for peace, yet we struggle to create it. Too often, our attempts at peace amount to avoiding difficult conversations, compromising truth, or simply hoping problems will disappear. Into this fractured world, Jesus speaks a surprising blessing: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9). Notice that Jesus does not bless those who merely love peace or those who keep the peace at any cost. He blesses those who actively make peace. Kingdom citizens are called to reflect the character of their heavenly Father, who has always been the great Peacemaker. Through Jesus Christ, God reconciles sinners to Himself and then sends His children into the world as ambassadors of that same reconciliation. As we explore this beatitude, we will discover what biblical peacemaking truly is, why it matters so deeply to God, and how the gospel both makes us people of peace and identifies us as members of our Father's family.Series: The Beatitudes: Kingdom Living in a Fallen World Scripture: Matthew 5:9 Speaker: Pastor David Hallett
