The People's Crusader: Mrs. Ida B. Wells-Barnett

from Revolutionary Baddies Podcast · host Revolutionary Baddies

“The more I studied the situation, the more I was convinced that the Southerner had never gotten over his resentment that the Negro was no longer his plaything, his servant, and his source of income.”- Ida B. Wells-Barnett. In this episode, Revolutionary Baddies attempts to highlight and convert new fans of Ida B. Wells-Barnett. Wells-Barnett is a giant in both Black history and Women’s history equally, and also single-handedly ended lynchings in the United States. Her story is one of profound bravery, skill, and compassion for Black people and the lives we live in a country built to hate us. Her writings and publications demanded dignity and respect from all people and she believed in collectivised freedom. Ida is a guide for all of us, that we must do everything within our power to do and to keep going. There is so much more to cover and uncover about her. We honor her love, labor, and sacrifice.
