The People's HERO: Scott Modlin for SENATE

Episode Synopsis (Pretty Peculiar People Puzzle Podcast) Hosts Pudgee Tha Phat Bastard and Ekko Seven sit down with Scott Modlin — a fifth-generation Brooklynite turned Connecticut public adjuster and now a candidate for State Senate — for a wide-ranging conversation that starts in crisis and ends in civics. Modlin walks listeners through how he came to help their mutual friend Candice rebuild after a devastating house fire, unpacking the shady tactics of predatory contractors and "bait and switch" insurance reps who prey on people at their most vulnerable. He breaks down what a public adjuster actually does, the red flags of late-night document signings, and why homeowners and renters alike need real coverage, not gimmick add-ons like appliance warranties. The conversation turns personal and harrowing as Modlin recounts driving 550 miles through blackout-era New York during Hurricane Sandy, rescuing clients from flooded attics, and the racial profiling he's witnessed — particularly against Asian families — in insurance investigations. He offers a five-point toolbox for anyone filing a claim: report only facts, let the adjuster do their job, get representation, document everything with photos, and never underinsure your home. The back half pivots to Modlin's underdog run for Connecticut State Senate, his frustration with underfunded schools, opaque local budget meetings, and a campaign finance system he calls broken. Pudgee and Ekko push a broader message about civic responsibility, voting locally, and protecting kids from social media overload — closing with a tribute to Nolan Wells and a call for community and human connection. #ThePrettyPeculiarPeoplePuzzle #PPPPodcast #Pudgee #EkkoSeven #PodcastClips #PodcastMoment #RealTalkPodcast #BrooklynToTheBronx #HipHopPodcast #Scottmodlin Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
