A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Out of jealousy and feeling threatened, certain Pharisees sought to discredit the character of Jesus by spreading many such false reports about Him. Instead of responding to His words, they hoped to turn everyone away from Him. In their attempt to murder Him, He was raised higher than any other name. And to this day, gossip and bearing false witness remains the mark of those who persecute disciples of Christ who walk in the Holy Spirit.
