The Peter Principle

Many people are competent at their job, and eventually get promoted. Then, competence in that new position qualifies them for yet another promotion. This happens until the point they are no longer competent and no longer eligible for the next promotion. That means you are also at risk of hitting the point of incompetence! This concept is named The Peter Principle. So, given enough time, and assuming there are enough ranks in the heirarchy, each employee may rise to their level of incompetence and gets stuck. The authors of this book analyse this phenomena and tell you how to achieve a state of wellbeing by avoiding that unwanted promotion.
