Rather than Philip approaching Jesus directly, he approached Andrew first as though both of them did not have the same access to Jesus. Philip did this because he was timid and indecisive. He did not know what to do, therefore he met Andrew to handle the matter. John 12:20-22, KJV Jesus proved Philip so as to make him have faith in God and believe in the supernatural and miracles.
