The Phillies Leadership Vacuum (PST Show #388)

from The Philadelphia Sports Table | Philly Sports News & Views · host The Philadelphia Sports Table

The Philadelphia Phillies have a leadership vacuum in their front office. It's right in front of our faces, and has provided much concern for fans as we look to the future. This week, Justin Klugh from The Dirty Inning podcast and Baseball Prospectus joined us this week to discuss the lack of leadership we have seen from the Phillies front office, and what it means for next season and seasons to come. But first, what kind of player are we hoping the Sixers take in the first-round of the upcoming NBA Draft that'll be taking place on November 18th? (approx. 3:40)Next, with all the COVID-19 cases popping up across the NFL, do we think the NFL will actually finish their season? (approx. 15:00)From there, we discussed how the Eagles will face the Giants this weekend. They are likely getting Miles Sanders back, which will be huge. What are we going to be looking for from this Eagles team coming out of the bye week? (approx. 21:15)This week on the Highbrow Segment, the NFL is apparently still working on diversity throughout the league. The owners recently approved a diversity proposal that is meant to hire more people of color in positions such as coaches and general managers. What's the incentive? Draft picks. Do we think this proposal is going to generate more opportunity for people of color in the NFL? (Approx. 28:20)On our Lowbrow Segment this week, we're picking two people who are dead that we'd most want to have dinner with. It was a fun discussion. (Approx. 37:50)What we're throwing down on the Table this week is a great, in-depth interview with Justin Klugh from The Dirty Inning podcast and Baseball Prospectus where we talked about the leadership vacuum within the Phillies front office and organization overall. How enraged are we over Andy MacPhail's existence in this front office? Oh, it's off the charts! We also talked about John Middleton's role as an owner and what the next General Manager of this Phillies organization should bring to the table. All of this and much more! (Approx. 51:15)
