The Photograph at Lost Lake Cabins

from Things in the Attic — Fexingo Horror · host Fexingo

Summer 1999. Luna's cousin rents a cabin at Lost Lake, a narrow man-made reservoir in eastern Oregon where the water is the colour of weak tea and the trees grow right up to the shore. The cabin is number seven, the last in the row, with a screen door that doesn't quite close and a smell like wet ash. Inside a drawer beneath the telephone, Luna finds a photograph of a woman standing on the dock at night, holding a lantern. The date on the back is June 21, 1979. But the dock in the picture is new — pressure-treated wood, still pale, not the grey-bleached structure that's there now. And the woman is looking not at the camera but past it, at something in the water. Luna asks the owner about the picture. He looks at the front, then turns it over, and his face goes flat. He says, 'That's not possible.' He says the cabin wasn't built until 2001. This is a story about what gets buried before a foundation is poured, and what surfaces when the lake is low. #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #ThingsInTheAttic #LostLake #Photograph #Cabin #Oregon #Summer1999 #Lantern #Dock #Water #ImpossibleImage #TimeSlip #FoundPhotograph #ManMadeLake #EasternOregon #ScreenDoor #AshSmell Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
