The Physiology of Yoga with Matt Huy

from The Wellness Woman · host Matthew Huy

In today's episode we will be discussing our beautiful bodies! We will dive into Anatomy and Physiology, but not from a boring and theoretical prospective, rather from a very relatable place: the way we feel and see our bodies move! Matt and his co-author Andrew  McGonigle  MD share knowledge, myths and facts in their latest book, The Physiology of Yoga, that will allow you to understand your body in an entirely different way! Get your copy of The Physiology of Yoga  About the Book: While many people practice yoga simply because it helps them feel good, the physiological basis for yoga’s effects on the body and mind is often unknown or misunderstood. Understanding these physiological concepts can help to deepen your yoga practice. The Physiology of Yoga separates speculation from fact by examining how the body responds and adapts to yoga within many systems of the body: musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, endocrine, reproductive, and digestive. Straightforward explanations guide you in sorting through conflicting information about what yoga really can help you achieve and in evaluating whether certain yoga methods provide benefits to any or all of those systems.Check out Matthew's online workshops; whether you are are a teacher or not :) Live Online 8-week Book Club : Study with the authors from September 8th to October 27thLanguage in Yoga Workshop: Fear, Safety and Science  About Matthew Huy Matthew is a movement teacher, anatomy trainer, and author. of The Physiology of Yoga,  Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Matt was studying biology at university when he enrolled in a dance class upon the  suggestion of a friend. In 2022, he completed a Master of Science in Sport, Health, and Exercise science at Brunel University London, where he focused on exercise physiology and pain science. His master’s research centered on the impact of yoga teachers’ language on their clients.Matt is based in the UK since 2009 and teaches weekly classes online and in Buckinghamshire,  as well as leading the anatomy component of several teacher trainings, both nationally and internationally.
