The Pirate Book 2 Chapter 16
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which the noble Magnus Troil and his daughters, journeying from Zetland to Kirkwall, are seized at sea by a pirate sloop whose wild but strangely amiable captain, Jack Bunce, alternates between rough levity and unexpectedly tender regard for his captives. The captives are taken aboard amid uneasy negotiations, spirited songs, and potations of punch, whilst the daughters are shortly set ashore under guarded escort, leaving the anxious father to await his uncertain fate with a mixture of paternal dread and reluctant resignation.
