The Plan - Audio
from Salem Magley Church Podcast · host Chris Hirschy
Why did Jesus leave his followers behind? After the resurrection, it might seem like Jesus would stay, rule visibly, and fix everything right away. Instead, he returned to the Father and left his followers in the world. But he did not leave them abandoned. In this sermon from John 17, Acts 1, and 1 Peter, we see that Jesus left his followers with a plan until his return. He prayed for his people, entrusted them to the care of his Father, promised the power of the Holy Spirit, and sent them to be his witnesses in the world. That means following Jesus today is not about standing still and staring at the sky. It means trusting God, standing firm in faith, resisting evil, casting our anxieties on the Father, and joining the mission of Jesus in everyday life. Jesus left, but he had a plan. And his followers are still part of it.
