Research published in the Journal of Family Psychology shows that firstborn daughters often receive more attention and investment from parents, leading to greater expectations. Another study from the Journal of Counseling Psychology highlights that eldest daughters tend to set high standards for themselves, which can result in anxiety and a fear of failure. And if you thought that was all, a study by the University of Michigan found that 73% of eldest daughters reported regularly helping with childcare and other household duties, compared to just 59% of eldest sons.
