The politics of bike lanes — and government priorities — with UW-La Crosse political scientist Chergosky, plus the unknown that is Wisconsin's governor's race
from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff
We kick off Friday’s La Crosse Talk by asking UW-L political scientist Dr. Anthony Chergosky what he thinks the most popular political topic in the city might be. Spoiler alert: it’s bicycle lanes. From there, we pedal that topic into a broader conversation about government priorities and how the general public reacts when the system doesn’t seem to be working for them. Locally, we also revisited past discussions about the Kmart lot and the potential closing of the north side library. Next, we dive into the latest Marquette Law School poll on Wisconsin’s governor candidates — examining how well voters actually know them and which party appears to be in a stronger position. Republicans have just two candidates (Josh Schoemann and Tom Tiffany), while Democrats have eight in the running so far (David Crowley, Francesca Hong, Missy Hughes, Brett Hulsey, Sara Rodriguez, Zachary Roper, Kelda Roys, and Ryan Strnad). Lastly, we touch on another part of the Marquette poll that deals with how people in the state feel about school referendums. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
