Its aspiration to shape public attitudes and to promote values appeared very soon thanks to the activism of producers. But where did the story of the “Dream Factory” begin? How did early productions reflect on world politics, and were they deliberately used by U.S. politicians? Which movies can be deemed milestones in the “politicisation” of Hollywood? When could it break out of the strict regulatory framework?
