The Politics of Poverty and Inequality

Baruch College School of Public Affairs presents a series of events at the Third Annual Public Affairs Week. Two panelists speak on "The Politics of Poverty and Inequality": Peter B. Edelman, Professor, Georgetown University Law Center, and Lawrence M. Mead, Professor, New York University. Professor Edelman served as Counselor to Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala and then as Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the Clinton Administration. He is the author of "Searching for America's Heart: RFK and the Renewal of Hope", published by Houghton-Mifflin in January 2001. Professor Mead is an expert on the problems of poverty and welfare in the United States and has consulted with federal, state, and local governments in this county and with several countries abroad. Nancy Aries, Executive Director of Academic Programs, School of Public Affairs makes the welcoming remarks. Moderated by Sanders Korenman, Professor, School of Public Affairs, the event takes place on March 29, 2006 at Baruch Vertical Campus 14-220, with questions and answers at the end.
