The dead of might as people sleep. That's when the spirits creep. As the belt holes three, dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural hour.

Ladies and gentlemen, that would be the great Bobby Mackie. Actually, I said Bobby! As I thought we were talking about tonight, I've never actually heard about Bobby Mackie. I'm so ripped my bro off and thrown at the stage.

Man's here. It's a bro. Man's here. Are you guys familiar with Bobby Mackie?

Oh yeah, I'm familiar. I grew up with a twinging country. So I listen to this stuff and I'm like, this is runs my dad. See, I'm kind of going with what Chunga says and that's the country's the parabola of the band.

So I'm really twinging country. I've heard of Bobby Mackie just because of the places haunted. It's actually Bobby Mackie's music world. Which we're going to talk about today's episode.

I've heard of haunted. I've had random people tell me stories about it, but I never really looked into it until now. But before we do look into it, we probably already started a video really quick for anybody to do that. I am your host, Tassle.

Sitting next to me at either to my right or left, nobody knows because nobody can see. We've got Tim, aka Beaker. What's happening? Cross-shroomly we've got Pumba.

From the bathroom. Let's get this time I'm at the table. Are we calling pick stack? We're broadcasting live from Mike's kitchen.

So what everybody to the supernatural hour? Broadcasting live as we're recording. Welcome to my home. We're not broadcasting live right this moment, but not this moment you're listening to.

Technically not live. So business. Do we have any business tonight? Yes.

Tim business life. I have dates for stuff. Some people have asked you do have the paranormal Pollock coming up. I'm not going to give details on the show, but if you are interested by the time you hear this, you will have about four days before the Pollock starts.

If you're interested and you haven't already. That's most planned smokes because you know where you want to be. If you're interested hit me up. You can email me at Tim at Whistler or give here in the Salt Lake area, Twilla, Grandsville, that area.

You're more than welcome to join us. We usually just do you bring some sort of food item or you can donate like five dollars to pay for the venue. We also have coming up in September Friday the 26th. I believe.

27. Mike's going to look. Big stack Pumba is going to find out the exact date. Yeah, for preparedness.

27th. 27th which is a Friday yes. Yes. We'll be doing Bensinger Smill and we will also be doing some sort of presentation at that one.

So that one will actually start at six o'clock. Take a price that will probably be about the same normal, 35 dollars, but we'll do a presentation at the amphitheater or possibly in the pavilion, depending on whether and lighting situation. And then afterwards we'll break out and investigate. On October 25th which I believe was also Friday, everything we're doing right now at Bensinger Smill, just saying that.

So if you haven't been there and you want to go, it's coming up, you're going to be able to go to Bensinger Smill. But on the 25th we've already talked to our good friend, and prices for this will be a little bit different. We're still working out the details on the prices, but we will be doing a gallery reading with Caden and then the investigation afterwards. And then the following night on the 26th, which is a Saturday night, most like another presentation, which will be different from the one that we do in September.

And then again, after the presentation, we'll break out into grips and do an investigation. I'm going to try to do another venue in October towards the beginning of the month. I haven't contacted them yet, so I don't have that all worked out. But as of right now, we do have the potluck, which will be at this point when you hear this, when this is released, it will be this Saturday.

And then like I said, coming up on the 27th of September, presentation and investigation, 25th of October will be gallery reading with Caden and presentation, or not presentation, investigation, sorry. And then the following night on the 26th of October, presentation and investigation. I do want to point out one thing that I just happened to find. So if you come to the one in September, September the 27th, we do go past midnight typically.

And Saturday the 28th is National Ghost Hunting Day. So you could come to that and then for an hour at least be go signing on National Ghost Hunting Day. What's not cool down there? We'll try to get another venue on the 28th if we want.

Yeah. You're trying to wear me out. I'm old. I'm trying to break you in.

You haven't been on investigation lately. That's not true. I've actually got a recent investigation. I'm going to talk about so far.

Right now, because we're done with businesses, this might not go to advancedpairnormal.com and purchase a shirt for the advanced panel services or the supernatural hour. They're awesome. They're comfortable. They don't drink.

Might have it so far. Wear them by them. And if you don't have one already, go get you a supernatural hour tapestry because they are there and they are awesome. Did you add it now?

It's been there for like a week. No, it hasn't changed. I promise it is. There's tapestries.

There's tapestries. And right now, this week, everything is 35% off. So that'll be over by the time you hear this. But you know, tapestry, if you can read our minds.

I'd also like to point out that the supernatural hour is part of the Radio Ronin Network, which can be found at Radio Ronin.com with great shows such as Radio Ronin, Bacon Cell, Greg's got to new music. And of course, us, the supernatural hour. So, recent investigations. I've been on one.

However, I'm going to go around real quick. Have you been on a recent investigation, Mike? I have. It's going to take a whole show.

Perfect. Then we can save this topic for another show. Okay. And I'll go to the first and then I'll put it in as a blooper.

Also, for those who have been wondering why we skipped a week, just so you're all aware, there's been changes in our personal work schedules. And I, and Mike also went on vacation. I went to Disneyland and Mike went to Vegas. Vegas, baby.

I had stuff going on too. I came out of one by stuff. So it was stuff. Personal life schedule changes.

It was stuff. It was stuff. Okay, sorry. I don't know about the investigation.

Either way, welcome to our new schedule. We'll still be here. We'll still be here. We'll skip to the other Wednesday.

Yes. We'll be back in the middle too. It will be magical. All right.

So this last weekend, while Tim was in Disneyland and Castle was doing other stuff, one of our team members, Lisa, asked Terry and I, my wife, if we would like to join her and her husband, on an investigation of one of his businesses. I was going to go on this and I couldn't that night because it was kind of fast notice and I had stuff going on. I was in California. Otherwise, these guys would have come and they would have had it blast.

So just a little bit about it. So the building's old. It's in downtown Salt Lake built in the early 1900s. And so it's a lot of that old brick.

If you're familiar with Salt Lake, think like Charlie Square, but not as fancy as far like the way that the building was built and everything. And we got in there and one of his employees or coworkers was actually there and wanted to give us a tour and he told us about some of the creepy things that have been happening. There was one instance where he'd seen a girl or a woman crawl through a gap. Now there's this old boiler down there that's like old and defunct.

It doesn't even work missing some of the doors. But it's kind of set halfway in the ground and then halfway in the wall and there's a gap around it. And he'd seen this girl crawl through there and scared the crap out of him. The other employees have heard women's voices before when there's no women there.

Felt the really uneasy creepiness, the cold chills. Stuff if you've been on a ghost investigation before, you know, you can tell that presence when something's there. And creepy things happening, noises. There was one time where they said there was a mannequin that turned its head.

But there's no neck joint on the mannequin to turn its head, which is really bizarre. That's interesting. It is interesting. Was there a basement in this building that he was running?

There was. So I'm going to throw this out. I could be completely wrong. But what did you get with the man that was in the basement?

Which one? There was two of them. I want to say he was a taller man, probably about our age. Yeah, total chills right now.

I want to say he was about late 30s, early 40s somewhere there. Didn't get an age so much. They weren't really, really talkative. I want to say he was about as tall as me maybe.

But there was probably one of the males that was more talkative than the other. It's a type one and a type two. And we've been the type two. I want to say the one that was more talkative.

Yeah. And he probably came to mind. Like I said, I was in California. This is the first I'm hearing about the investigation.

I'm just saying back watching Magic Happen. I just feel like there was something special that happened with this, the spirit or something that you thought was cool. I don't know if I'd say it was cool. In fact, I'd say it's kind of a bummer than what he did.

Okay. So we did it the tour. So we get into the room where that boiler is and sure enough, right off the bat, we're getting chatted from different spirits. We got a ghost meter pro that's answering one way.

We got my dowsing rods answering one way. We got Terry's dowsing rods answering another way. And we decided to determine that there were multiple spirits in there that were talking to us. There's actually three of them in there, not to mention the spirit guys that went with us.

We the first one I picked up on was a woman named Samantha and she was actually pretty cool. And she didn't really want to talk to me. She only wanted to talk to Terry and Toulisa. And so she talked to Terry over there.

And then all of a sudden I'm getting answers on the ghost meter pro that aren't matching with anything. So I started asking questions and determine that there's a guy named Ian there as well. He's the type one. He's the type one.

He's the type one. He's the type one. Was the type two his name started like a T? No.

Okay. I'm wrong. But we didn't get a name for the name. Not the one that you're thinking of.

Okay. The one in the basement was a complete. There were several spirits at this place. That's a big, big place.

Several big warehouses all joined together in one big deal. I want to go to there. You should come. You should come.

Yeah. We should do it again. Atleasta. Look it up.

And that's the one that Sean had seen come through the wall. And Ian and Samantha. Sean is the employee that gave us the tour. And we determined that her name was Candice and that she got a total kick out of scaring everybody there.

Kind of a bully. She was Samantha's friend. Samantha thought she was a friend. But did admit that it was kind of me and her to do all the things that she does.

And so I think it's hilarious. I know if she threw so does she. If I was a ghost, I'd totally be staring at me on purpose. I probably would too.

Yeah. I think she enjoys it. She does. She thought it was a graceful.

I was on scaring people. And she's like, but I don't get like a malicious intent. It's just like. She wasn't really evil.

It was more mischievous. It was more like, you know, she enjoyed playing hide and seek and she always liked being one seeking that or when she was hiding, she jumped out and was seeking her. That's kind of like, that's what it feels like to me anyways. Could be.

Could be. But yeah, she was definitely the one that was causing the problems and getting a complete kick out of it. I thought it was hilarious. Although they don't.

So then we went after we talked with them for a little while, we decided to go check out some of the other places. Because like I said, this place was huge. We walked to the big warehouses. And over on the southeast corner of the building, there is an area where the warehouse has been built into offices.

So it's all sheet rocked offices and carpets and everything. There was an old creepy vault over there, like a full size, kind of like a size of a normal bathroom. And so Lisa really wanted to go check out the vault. So we went into the vault and there was like nothing there, which was kind of surprising.

I had like old wood floors, nothing going on in there. And then I locked out. What are you talking about? Well, it was open, but it was just like, yeah, this is kind of stupid.

Let's go somewhere else. So we went into a different room. So we all sat down on the floor and Lisa was trying to get, we could tell their spirits in there. You could feel the presence and she was trying to get them to open.

They had like these cabinet doors. She just moved one of the doors and they went to that. They would talk to us a little bit and she we could tell there was something weird. She decided she was going to go into the office across from where we were sitting and she got up to walk out the door and just stopped.

She says it felt like she just walked into some sort of a force field that wouldn't allow her to go further. And she just paused and goes, maybe not. And then just kind of started backing up. And when she did that, the whole room just got cold and dark.

And it was definitely very heavy, very dense. And it came in and I'm not sure on this. I think it touched my hip because we were sitting against the wall and it came over by me and we were asking spirit guys that were there with us and other spirits. Just where is it?

And it kind of pointed right over to him right here. And I could feel him right off my left side. Did you feel touch or shoulder at all? No, it was like right on my hip, like right below where my belt would be.

On your left side. On my left side. And I thought that was just really weird because it's I'm not positive that it touched me but that's what a sensation I had. I'm pretty sure it did.

And it only stayed a minute or two and then it kind of just disappeared. I think it was more or less just coming in to see who we were and what the heck. But she said that she felt like it was kind of a what are you doing in my house type of a feeling that she got when she stood up there. And it was interesting.

I wasn't I wasn't the scariest thing I've seen but but he was definitely negative. And then he went back into the room next door and we decided to leave him alone. We were going to go chase him and bug him and poke the bear because poking the bear does what Gary? Oh my God, it's a bad thing.

It's bad thing to happen. So it's Gary or he gets castle very good EVPs. Yes it does. Sometimes it does.

One thing that was interesting though is so Ian and Samantha and my spirit guide Mary were coming with us and when we got into those areas the smell of pine salt was like super strong. And when we got in there sat down none of those spirits came in with us. And I was trying to talk to Mary and ask her questions like I usually do and she wasn't responding and Samantha and none of them were there. And what we determined was that they didn't like the smell of pine salt.

It came out after they were alive. Because Ian was in the late 1800s. Samantha was in the early 1900s and Mary was in the mid, well she was born in 1700s and died in 1800s but pine salt came out after they were born. And they did not add pine salt to Christ.

No it was really weird. And so the spirit guides that were with us were all the ones that were familiar with it in life. Now that was weird to me. I don't know if that's a legit thing but for them they said that that's.

I think I could see that there's a ghost there who had some weird smell that never really smelled before. No thanks. That's why they usually stay away from you. So from there we went up to the third floor up to the attic.

And up in the attic we felt there was a type 3 up there. He was one of those shy quiet type 3s. I don't know if it was generally a type 3 or maybe a really heavy type 2. He kind of kept off in the corner by himself.

Now Elisa's husband she says he's a blocker and so a lot of stuff doesn't happen when he's around. So he went downstairs with Terry and Elisa and Sean and I all stayed up there. We could tell they'd been fired up there. Like up in the timbers in the roof there was a lot of charred stuff that there had been a fire.

And when they left this entity came over from the corner where it was and over to where we were. And again it didn't stay there real long but it was definitely heavy. You could feel that darkness and that cold and the what's the best way to scrap heavy. Yeah you could feel it was evil.

It was dark. Just that negative energy. Totally. Totally strong.

Yeah. For those who've never felt that I mean it really is the best way to scrap it's just a really heavy kind of almost icky kind of feeling it just. Does that thing you get when you're watching say like Robert's doll. I mean we'll talk about that in just a second but it's like when you're watching like a scary movie for the first time you don't know what to expect you kind of get that like creepy and scared anticipation feeling.

You know creepy is a really good word I like to use that it's just that kind of creepy. Someone's watching me kind of you know you've all felt it you know you have. Yeah that's the best way to have it. Feeling you get when you're walking down Salt Lake the streets of Salt Lake at like one o'clock in the morning by yourself that creepy feeling you get.

You've never felt that feeling come on and go sign with us anyway. Make sure you're in my group I'll make sure you feel that feeling. So then even if you feel that feeling himself now we're getting to the part where Tim wanted to talk about so from there we went down to the basement and to get to the basement there's a giant steel plate like what you would drive on like what you do in road construction and you have to drive over the ditch and it took a lot of effort with some crowbars and what not to move it enough just to get down the stairway. But we get down the basement and it's another giant warehouse down there.

Nothing's down in there it's just completely empty and there was I'd say it's maybe 60 feet wide maybe 120 feet long. Just pretty big little open space down there with lots of pillars and we determined that there are spirits in two corners. There's a type one in one corner a male and there was a type two in the other corner who was also a male and I think this type two is the one that you're talking about. The type one pretty much they have an agreement that they stay on their sides of the warehouse.

But for anybody who's new to our show a type one is a human spirit type two is a male level human spirit type three would be an inhuman commonly called the monic type spirits. Anyway well I mean it could be demonic it could be elemental it's just something inhuman in nature. Right. Anyway that's just a little we haven't defined that for a while so.

Right no that's good it's good to touch back on that and anyway the type one didn't really want to talk to us too much you just kind of like yeah I'm here I'm watching you but I'm just gonna stay over here in my corner because I don't want to go anywhere with that other guy. So the other type two came over there was one point where it came over right behind Elisa and we started he started talking to us quite a bit and we determined that he was the one who started the fire that was upstairs. He was in his 20s he lived with his parents he hated his parents he hated everybody he hated himself he wasn't happy he wanted to die and he didn't give you any he didn't give us a name that I don't wear it. You know actually we did get a name from him and I don't remember what it was.

Thomas. No. Okay. No but I see Brandon.

I want to stay in your head laughing at us. I want to say it was like Brett or something like that I want to say I start with a B. But at any rate he lit the fire because he wanted to do some damage and when he committed suicide and he really didn't care he had that attitude of like I don't care screw you I don't care you know it's like well you know you cause I probably like I don't care. And so talk to him for a little bit and then things got a little bit quiet we're like alright let's just go out and let's get out of here let's time to go home.

And that was it it was kind of like it was fun stuff but nothing super amazing and not as amazing as castles which I'm gonna come back to in just a minute. Oh your tea and do you want to talk about Robert the doll. So for those of you who listened to our last episode when we talked about Chris objects that we totally did our homework on we talked about Robert the doll and there was one point in the episode where I had Castle pull up a picture of Robert and I started getting this really negative feeling and I was in the moment felt like I mean you could you heard me stop the show and ask for Selenite. I could feel I was it's one of those with the whole room kind of got that hit creepy feeling.

So we were actually contacted by one of our listeners as they were listening to the episode they started getting a really heavy dark feeling and their body they started physically hurting all through their body it got to the point where they actually had to turn the episode off and they weren't able to finish the rest of the show. So I know I ducked around about taking the castle there to provoke the doll and like taking the team to investigate my opinion on the whole doll is completely changed I would have advised people to stay away from Robert the doll. Yeah, don't bad news. I mean it's my opinion even just talk about it now you're giving me chills which is like my opinion it's like it's like Popo level like the box level like this thing is just like something at a level even just stay away from it.

It's just there's nothing to me has bad news in all over it. So speaking of dolls so I'm going to touch on two things actually you're going to touch two things. So first off I was actually my parents house the other day and I was I don't want to hear about you touching things your parents house and I was cleaning out a closet and I came across a small little stuff lion doll and it's been a while since I've run across any object attachments anybody who's listening to foreknows that the only kind of I'm using my air quotations here ability that I have in this realm is for whatever reason object attachments just kind of stick out to me. Are you implying that it's not an ability?

It's an ability but I'm just not I'm saying I'm not like a medium or I'm not a psychic I just want either of mine I can just pick these things out and it's just a little just say you the only gift that I feel like I have is that I can pick out attachments. It's a gift fair enough. I'll take it. I'll take it.

So basically so when I see these things it's like my eyes come along to it it's almost like television you just kind of look at it and it just doesn't feel right. So in this show me where the lion doll touch and this big bin of toys I found this stuff lion doll and it tends to be when I found things before like the skull and Santa Quinn that we talked about last time. You know weird man. Yeah I just kind of look at it and I'm just kind of like mmm it looks back at me and I look at it some more and would you just look at it.

I like how you always find that stuff and then you'll look at you'll like show it to me like do you feel an attachment to this? I've had to remind you so I was like that's your thing. You do. Anyway so interestingly enough I took a picture of it all I contacted Brandi and I said Brandi tell me what's up with the object attached I didn't ask if there was one or something.

Tell me what's up about the object attached one on this thing. She did confirm that I had a type 2 spirit who was a grumpy old man which Brandi subsequently took care of. So I was just kind of fine you can find object attachments places you'd expect them like in a bin of toys at your parents house. First objects at your own parents house.

Well there's a great portal there so not surprising. So investigations now I haven't been on a residential investigation probably for a couple of years. I've just I've had. I remember the last one you were on.

That's probably the Santa Quinn skull one actually. Yeah I was the first one that I was on in Midville. How long ago was that one? By the way I have an update on that one.

December of two years ago? It'll be two years in December? Actually that was the last one I was in midville. Are we closed that portal?

So it's funny it's like your first residential the last one that you've been on before the one that you're about to talk about. I was actually approached today by someone at work that knows that family we helped. Really? It's been almost two years since we went and closed that portal and he says everything is still just fine and everything's quiet and they haven't had any problems since.

It's almost two years. Which leads us into my latest investigation. So I see all the investigation requests that come in through WIS.org at Jan handles those now. But I still see all of them.

And there's one that came in that I really felt that I needed to go on. It was an elderly Catholic woman whose granddaughter had been screener on the Ouija board inside her house and headed by to some things in. Mike can I play with the Ouija board in your house? No.

Hey if I was going to do Ouija board this is the place I do it. It's not my house. Can we like hover it over the fire pit? We can see what a shotgun does to it.

For the record folks Ouija board is bad. I'll play the Ouija board. So essentially her granddaughter brought this in and she had managed to bring several things into the home. Managed up in several portals and this woman was basically having some health issues because what was going on the house she's being drained for lack of a better word she's tired, couldn't get anything done.

Even just contacting us she said that she felt like something was pinching the back of her neck and just kind of sucking the energy out of her just reaching out to us. She'd been contact with some of her church officials including an actual exorcist in California trying to deal with the stuff that was in her home. Anyway, we went to the home and it was interesting because when you walked in kind of talking creepy stuff again you could feel when the minute we walked in whatever was in there was incredibly angry. Just a really heavy angry.

The best way to describe how anger feels on a spiritual level is it's kind of a buzzing. It's kind of a low frequency buzzing is probably the best way I would describe it. I don't know if that. It feels hot.

I don't feel different to different people though because for me I don't feel the heat so much. I get the buzzing thing but for me it feels like the air is thinner like it's harder to breathe and something's better. I can see where Tim says hot but for me it's kind of heavy buzzing. A lot of people say they'll feel like a pressure on their chest too.

Like I said it kind of gets harder to breathe. Anyway so we could feel whatever was angry. So we went to the house and there's interesting because one bedroom that was kind of almost like a sanctuary you go in that bedroom and it was full of life plants had great big windows on all sides and almost felt like the entities did not like to go into that room. Do they have basal growing in that room?

I don't believe so. I realized her after we left it that would be advantageous to get some live basal plants in the house. So we went out to the basement and the basement they kind of abandoned for the most part. They had a bunch of litter boxes down there.

They kind of let the cats run. It was kind of those older creepy basements with kind of the concrete that started to turn black a little bit and just that whole basement was just really heavy. We went through the house. We managed to locate several portals.

We were able to get those closed. Then we went up and we were able to start cleansing the house and did what we did. We ended up giving the house a blessing and her one. And it was interesting just to change in feelings from the really heavy anger, oppressiveness to just peace and light.

And it just felt really good when we left, which is one of the reasons why we do this kind of thing. But it was funny to kind of get back on the horse having not been on an investigation for a couple of years, a private investigation. I've been on many public ones here with the group. But that was kind of my investigation for the last two years.

I was sad I had to get to go on that one. She actually contacted me. It was on a Monday. Right.

And she contacted me Monday afternoon and said I forgot to send the text to you over the weekend. Can you go to night? I'm like no, I need a little more notice than. Yeah, it was interesting.

But I mean, it was literally a day and night change from just kind of heavy and I mean she was seeing shadow figures in the home. She said they often appears like little small floating orbs, kind of like a, almost like a horse fly size kind of, you know, it was great. Not a horse fly, but it was big gigantic flies in your house. You just seem kind of floating around.

But yeah, after we're done there, gone. So that's it for recent investigations. Anybody have anything they want to add before we move on to our Bobby Mackey topic? Negative go, Trevor.

Mike, you are up. All right. So if you've never heard of Bobby Mackeys, it's a honky tonk bar in Wilder Kentucky. If you think about it, you're watching the Duke's a hazard when you're a kid.

You're cool. If you're not a kid, that was the Friday night thing you did. You went to grocery store, you got grocery store the week with mom and dad and they usually got the good food, but you just lasted for three or four days and you had to grab your food until the next payday. But you sit down and watch Duke's a hazard.

And they have the place called the Bors Nest, which is like the bar. They had the jukebox. They had the dance in. I watched are you afraid of the dark?

Okay. When I was a kid, that's what I watched on Friday nights. That's because you're a youngster. I was a big boy.

Duke's a hazard. That's right. Duke's a hazard. And this isn't just the movie we're talking about, you know, anyway, Tom Wopat, John Schneider.

Oh, right. So in, or if you give him, if you don't know what that is, give you a better idea from it. If you've ever seen the movie Footloose, they go to a, across the river to a bar where they dance with people getting to fight. Or if you've ever seen, now this is going to really date you.

If you're old enough, you've seen Urban Cowboy with John Chabolta and there's a place where they go and that's all about this guy wants to ride the bull. Now Bobby Mackeys was the first place, I had one report that said it was the first place that's ever had a riding, one of those. I heard that as well. I don't know if it was the first or it was one of the first, but it was definitely up there.

I cannot verify that. It made Bobby Mackeys extra cool. It did. So, but the land there, before we get to having a honky tonk there, let's go back to a little bit of the history of the land.

I mean, it was an area that was very fertile. It's on the Licking River is what the river is called. I'm sure the Native Americans didn't call it the Licking River, but it does, it's kind of where that, I feel that we call the Licking River. It's right near the confluence of the Licking River and the Ohio River.

It's just south of Cincinnati, just on the Kentucky side of the border. And it was a lot of, it was very fertile area anyway, but there were a lot of battles between the different Native American tribes over the rich fertile land there. So there were also lots of massacres there between the different tribes. So in the 1700s, enter the white settlers that came in and just kind of said, this is our land and that didn't go over well.

So there were a lot of massacres and fighting between the settlers and the Native Americans there. It's a little bit of a mention Native Americans. That was kind of the old. Do you have a flag?

Yeah, did you claim it? That was the very European thing to do. If you don't have a flag, you don't have ownership. So the area came up, the area came up, the area came up called Leaches Station and by the 1800s, it was renamed Wilder.

I didn't write the history. It's just how it was. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just chuckling at the, the strong legislation right next to Licking River. You look the leaches.

It just seems like they just kind of run. We make an amendment. I'm sure it was named after somebody. It was like something Native Americans.

You know that pretty much every name was made up at one point. Yes. Yeah, there you go. Ah.

And now you know, knowing South of Mattle. Gee, I, again, if you're old enough to know that one. I know G.I. Joe.

Okay. We watched that one too. There we go. So anyway, once they built the railroad that came in, a small manufacturing of Farmington Groove and a Prosperd and like tends to happen, much of the, the town was built over the graves of Native Americans, all these forgotten natives that were there and unmarked graves.

Well, they didn't really mark the graves, though. They kind of buried their dead and moved on. Right. In actuality.

I mean, here in even Utah, they find Native American graves all the time. They'll just dig up, you know, a foundation for a house or something. Boom. There's a skeleton.

Yeah. And then we decided to build somewhere else. Not really. We just have, we need to go to center house.

Yeah, say in actuality and I'm not getting into woods, but they just come in and excavate the bones and remove them and then by a week later, you're rebuilding. Okay. So in 1815, 1850, the land that was now in the Al Macu-Sone was actually a huge slaughterhouse that supplied most of the Northwestern Kentucky and Cincinnati with beef. And back in those days, things weren't really on the up.

So instead of dispensing of the blood and guts and the bones and the cartilage properly, they dumped them into a well in the basement. Now the well, there was actually three wells there. Now they were more like drainage pits. I don't know that you could really call them so much of a well.

Now, quick enough, I'm wrong, Mike. But if I remember, according to the research I did, they had these three, these wells were actually kind of tunnels. They went down underneath the building, then out underneath the railroad tracks and out to the river. Right.

And so the idea was they just kind of dumped the gook down there and it would just kind of make its way. Fita fish. It's like the nuclear power plant in the Simpsons where they, that's how they got blinky. They just dumped other waste in the river.

You know, that's what I did in those days is river was just a convenient way to get rid of stuff. So it kind of turned that clear waters red with each new blood dump. That was what the way that the one I read it said. So you can kind of call it like a sacrificial pit right there already.

It's already stuck in all kinds of blood and stuff down there. Mm, that's not lovely. For unknown reasons, the slaughterhouse closed in 1890, but the building was left unused and abandoned. And so then we go to, there was rumor that some Satanists had moved in.

I heard that too, that they kind of moved in and had to use that building for various rituals and I can correct me if I'm wrong because I know you did most research on this mic. But they weren't entirely sure if that's truly the case or if one of the authors in the area kind of made that up the cell books and kind of make it sensational if you will. So whether there's actually Satanists or not was kind of on the fence. It's a lot of this stuff is is unconfirmed.

A lot of the stories, even some of the spirits that we're going to talk about, they had a hard time finding records that these people existed. One of them for sure we know about, but some of the other ones, there's some debatable things. But every good ghost story starts with a little bit of exaggeration, right? So not always actually, but not when we were talking about ghost story.

You tell it Christmas time too. Like the scary stories to tell in the dark, those are all probably started with something small and they got exaggerated. By the way, if you haven't seen that movie yet, it's pretty good. Sorry, sorry.

We'll talk about it. It's a good entry level movie. It's not quite conjuring. Well, I'm going to move over to this episode.

Yeah. All right. So Satanists in the basement. Satanists in the basement.

So there was a place they claimed that there were a lot of the cult rituals that were held there on the property. I mean, it was abandoned. I don't know how many Satanists there were in the late 1800s and the 1890s. But it definitely adds to the story.

I'm an infant, I was possible because that's around the time, maybe a little bit before Alistair Carly. Not true. That is just right before Alistair Carly. The Alistair Carly was like early 1900s.

Right. They used this basement for blood rituals and sacrifices, actual animal sacrifices and what not. And it was an area that was away from everything else and where they could have their privacy. But stories of Satanic worship are often the lifeline of small town legends and the slaughterhouse so we turn into this real scary story that leads us into Pearl Brian.

You know, this is kind of a tragic story with Pearl. So Pearl was what 24? 22. No, no, no.

He was 22. Yeah, 22. Yeah, research. Pearl was 22 years old.

1896 murder of 22 year old Pearl Brian, a small town girl from Green Castle, Indiana made headlines in this region. Continue him. Pearl said the scarves was discovered in a field less than two miles from the slaughterhouse. Do you want to keep me?

I can keep doing my radio voice. So I can give us some back history on the body. Like Tim said, Pearl came from Green Castle, Indiana. She had supposedly fallen in love with a 28 year old dental student in Cincinnati.

He was gone to school and she got pregnant. Well, not in Cincinnati. His name was Scott Jackson. Scott Jackson.

Yep. Pregnancy in these days was kind of frowned upon. And since they weren't married, it was frowned upon. This one was very frowned upon.

Prawn upon when you were out of wedlock. Neither of the two of them wanted to keep the pregnancy to go through with it. And Jackson made arrangements for her to come to Cincinnati where he was in dental school in order to have an abortion carried out. But he didn't want any publicity.

And so he enlisted the help of his roommate, 21 year old Alonzo Walling, to try to perform the procedure because they figured they had surgical knowledge from being in dental school, which makes a lot of sense. But they figured they could do it themselves. Now, if you don't know anything about medicine at that time, any surgery in the late 1800s was a risky operation period. So why they think they can do this?

Well, because they're dental. Well, the thing is, I also heard that it was possible that she was considering keeping the baby and she was actually on her way to Cincinnati to try to convince Scott to do the same thing, to just basically man up and let's raise this child. That could have been. And maybe that's...

I mean, I'm leaning more towards the abortion. Well, that's the hard thing with these old kind of stories is some of it gets lost in history and there are sometimes are to conflicting accounts. I mean, I think the general gist of the story is legitimate, but some of the wise and why nots and what fors I think kind of following the realm of speculation. I mean, we even found that when we did the Body Snatchers episode.

You know, we found some things where there's two or three different versions of an event just because it's different people heard different rumors and they got recorded and you don't know which is legit and which was the rumor. And regardless, she came down to meet with her boyfriend, who this guy Scott, who was a guy who got pregnant. And what leads Credence the way you were saying there, Tim, is that when they found the autopsy report, she did have defensive wounds all over her arms and that she had been fighting. She fought that.

She had to cut her hands too. She didn't want to just go quietly. But what had happened is they drugged her and I saw one report that said that they, the autopsy had found cocaine, like 14 grams of cocaine. And arsenic is what I'd heard.

Yeah, that's what it was. So it was supposedly, it was, they gave it to her to like help numb the pain or whatever, like sedate her, I guess. If you're missing arsenic with cocaine, I think you're intent there's to kill somebody. It's like a roofies of 1899.

So it's a good thing these guys have become dentists because, yeah, those people are just never getting them. Rook now, let's do a little bit of numbing here. That's arsenic. You won't feel a thing in a bunch of minutes.

Wait longer. Anyway, so they were out in the field. There's about two and a half miles away from where, I wonder what I saw, I said two and a half miles. I noticed that four miles.

I don't think I read those two. That was about two miles. So it was a, the field of a, basically they found her body the next morning. Her body was found.

The field retired Colonel, I remember right. And it was named was John Locke. It was in Fort Thomas, which is a neighboring town. And it was found February 1, 1896.

Her body was found there without its head. So I guess the local newspaper, the headline actually read, the headless body of a young woman was found lying and it pulled a blood on February 1, 1896 on the Fort Thomas farm of John Locke across from the present entrance to the Highland Country Club. So what's interesting about that is there was, I'm like, that didn't make sense about country clubs in 1800s. Nah.

So look that up and it actually was a country club there that was fairly new. It was a golf course and it was actually called the Inverness when they opened it and they might have just switched over. It was changed to the Highland Country Club. But yeah, that was interesting.

So, yeah. So as, as the headling mentioned, uh, had this body. So apparently when this all went down, I guess the, the abortion basically was a complete failure, something went wrong. They watched it hard.

They, they basically screwed it up. Uh, they pretty much ended up killing her. And it said that they had removed her head to try to hide the evidence and then take any trace of anything, anything that led back to them. Unfortunately for them, what actually identified her body was the shoes that she was wearing.

There was a, uh, a number inside the shoe on, I believe when it was made or where it was. Yeah, it was a serial number. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I was a cobbler in, I believe it was at Columbus, Ohio.

Right. And he actually remembered selling her those shoes, had like record of her. Hey, I sold her shoe number 223. Um, and so that's kind of how they figured out who she was.

Serial numbers and shoes. Yeah. One other thing real quick before I moved too far off from it is the area where they, uh, had left her headless body as an area where, uh, prostitutes and soldiers often, uh, got together, so to speak. And so I think it was probably part of their plan in hiding the body to decapitate it so she could be identified and put in this area where soldiers and prostitutes hooked up, uh, hoping that maybe they'd think it was a prostitute and maybe a soldier had done it to kind of shift the blame away from themselves.

They did not know that. So I didn't know that either. That's actually good to know, I guess. Um, I mean, it makes complete sense if you want to, it's kind of like back in the Jack the River days.

I mean, it's around the same time actually where he would just kill people that were in that district where prostitutes were known to be and it wasn't uncommon when a prostitute was killed. Just not the man in the Jack the River did it. So unfortunately for Pearl, they actually never found her head. Uh, neither one of the men would admit to what they did with it.

One of them blamed the other saying he just threw in the river. He crushed it in the river. Uh, the other, uh, uh, I believe it was Jackson that blamed whaling, saying the whaling through the river, whaling said Jackson, uh, buried it or possibly through the river. Um, there's a couple other theories.

One was that they threw in one of the wells at the slaughterhouse, uh, as part of like a sacrificial thing they did as a satanic ritual. They said there, there was rumors at least two men were part of the occult. I'm going to call BS on that though. Maybe I'm wrong, but my thought is is that kind of what the small town whisper is like we've already kind of touched on.

Uh, you know, you find headless body sensationalism kind of kicks in and the realistic what happened, which is probably a head went in the river or was buried somewhere, turns into, remember those sateness at the old slaughterhouse? Um, and the stories got that together. That's just my opinion on it. I, anyway, sorry, I meant to catch off.

No, you're fine. One of the other theories that I heard was there was a medical school nearby and the claim is that they took the head there and burned it in the incinerator. Yeah. But regardless, um, there's no actual, any like forensic evidence or anything that shows what actually happened to her head.

It was never found. They followed footprints. There was one set of footprints that they followed and they, the hounds were able to lead and it went to a nearby reservoir and then there was blood on a cistern there. And then from there, the blood, the head went, they checked the cistern for her head and it was not found there.

And then they went off towards the river, towards the bridge and no head was ever found. So they turned on each other. Um, they were, they probably could have gotten away with it. Had they not kind of squabbled between each other?

Um, I think what happened was, um, they came after Jackson first, being the, he was the boyfriend. And at one point in time, I believe he asked the cops. That was probably me. Sorry.

Someone asked that one. Maybe I, I, I burped while I talk. Um, so I guess Jackson had asked the police at one point time, have you arrested Wailing it? And up until that point, no one knew Wailing was involved in any of this.

That's right. So this is Jackson actually said, well, did you arrest this guy yet? I think the police won't pick up Jackson. He's like, you sort of, you know, Wailing too.

And they're like really willing. You don't say. Yeah. So that's kind of probably what turned them on each other's.

Well, guys, Jackson, you're terrible. I had help, you know, go get this guy too. The, the people at the time, a lot of the authorities and even the people at the school said that Alonso was not really bright enough to do something like this by himself. He couldn't plan this.

He couldn't do this. That it was likely Scott Johnson, Jackson Scott Jackson, because Wailing or Wailing wasn't able to do it. He was kind of a, sounds like an idiot or at least not a very bright person anyway. Um, I can read it as Wailing.

Yeah. Maybe it's pronounced Wailing. I don't know. Anyone else?

Um, they did, they were both, uh, found guilty though, because of their testimonies were just too much. They knew too much about the case. And so they were both, uh, found guilty. Um, they were both sentenced to hang and they were both hanged.

But the, the legend goes, the Lord says that Jackson with his dying breath when he was out there before he was hung vowed to never rest and to haunt those who had wronged him. The local legend also has it that, um, that Wailing was one that said, I'm going to haunt this land forever. So who said what? I don't know what's interesting as they, this was the last public hanging that they did in this area.

Um, and they kind of botched it. Uh, so when they pulled the old lever for these two dinglings to, uh, be hung, they actually choked it up. They didn't break their neck like it's supposed to. They didn't have the.

Yeah. Normally when you hang like your weight come down so hard, the rope hits their spine, snaps your spine. That's what normally kills you. Right.

Uh, it didn't work in this case and both guys, uh, sat there for four minutes just flailing around. Don't feel like it can breathe anymore. So that's horrible. Sweet justice.

So yeah, they actually spent four minutes strangling to death. So Pearl, so they never found her head, but she's buried in the forest, Hills Cemetery in Green Castle, Indiana where she was from. The base of the headstone is still in Forest Hill Cemetery, but the headstone was removed because people would go and chip pieces off for souvenirs, which is just rude. Um, so people that visit her grave where this base of the headstone is will often leave a coin heads up and I saw a picture of that where there's all these coins on space and they're all heads up.

Kind of, I believe it's the, I don't know because it's supposed to help her in the afterlife. Yeah, I don't know how to find a head if I have the penny heads up, but it is claimed that the head, the spectrum of Pearl Brian is sometimes seen at Bobby Mackeys who appears without her head and exudes a profound sense of melancholy or sadness. You know, and even if she wasn't killed on the property or turbulent near the property, that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I mean, we've been on investigations of their spirits that are nowhere near where they end up at.

So it could be very possible that she did die within a few miles, but just found her way to that building. So that's not outside the realm of possibilities. Now what's interesting is after the whole deal with her real quick, I don't know if we mentioned this yet or not, but just keep note of this. They actually found out that she was five months pregnant and this is important when we're on to another stuff that we're going to talk about.

Yes, thank you, Tim. Good point. So the next kind of era with the building Bobby Mackeys is in now was the 1920 gangster area and it was kind of a big deal. This is during the prohibition era and mobsters actually moved in and were using the building more or less as kind of a speakeasy and using those wells and tunnels underneath the railroad tracks to smuggle liquor up inside the building from the river.

Yeah, so the building that they had there that was the slaughterhouse was actually torn down just to the foundation and they covered up the wells that were down there under the floor and then they built a new building on top of it that the mobsters used as an illicit bar and a casino that they called the Primrose. And it was area prohibition, like Castle said, and the Primrose was by all accounts a high of bootleggers, gangsters, just name all the people. I mean, we're talking like, you know, untangled, you go in there, these are all those people that had a dream that didn't happen and they just, that's for all you dads out there and moms out there. Anyway, just a horrible den of horrible people.
