The Power And Effect Of Repentance (Video)

When people hear the word repentance, they often think of guilt, shame, or punishment. But from a Lutheran perspective, repentance is a gift of God's grace and has two parts. First, the Holy Spirit shows us our sin through God's Law, and we honestly acknowledge that we have fallen short and cannot save ourselves. This sorrow over sin is not meant to crush us but to bring us to Jesus. And the second part is even more powerful. We hear God's promise that because of Jesus' death and resurrection, we are completely forgiven. Repentance is not about earning God's favour; it is about receiving the forgiveness He freely gives. Repentance takes us from guilt to grace, from fear to peace, from death to life. Every time we confess our sins, God meets us with open arms, declaring, "Your sins are forgiven for Jesus' sake."
