The power Chronic illness holds on us: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome - With Millie

from Crohn's and Autism Awareness Advocate · host Mason Milne

In today's episode I am joined with Millie this will be the last set of Autumn specials trust me they are awesome! who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, she talks about what it is and we share our insight about having Chronic Illness. Earlier in the year we had a guest called Ella who is friends with Millie which both have the same Chronic Illness.  Millie talks about she is doing at the moment and how she has never been admitted into the hospital on her Birthday which is great but she has quite close to Christmas and new year so let's hope not this year! We talk about A&E and how people with a Chronic Illness she have their own section to go to in a emergency and Chronic Illness isn't an injury. Millie said in Dover/London they have a section for people with Chronic Illness, we think it's great and more places should be accommodating like this.  We also talk about medication and food and drinks. Millie can't really have football but dizzy drinks, she has to avoid Vegetables and Fruit which isn't easy for her to do and she can't eat onions which we discover has much food onions are actually in it!  this leads to the thing when Chronic Illness isn't just about diet and the so called "Eating healthy food" That's incorrect we eat what we can and we also mention it's hard with it's so invisible Chronic Illness and hard to explain to others. We talks using and disabled badge and accessible toilets  and how being judged can be hard!  Great advise by Millie we talk Mental health too!  Thank you again Millie on her first ever podcast!
