The Power of God in the Church 6: The Power of an Invitation - John 1:31-51

For many years we were part of a church in Northern British Columbia. One of the most memorable invitations I received was after moving away. The men in that church asked if I would speak at their retreat. I'd have to take a couple planes just to get there, then everybody would get on another plane and go as far north as planes go. Then several helicopters would take us as far north as helicopters go. They would drop us off for four or five days. There would be no houses, no electricity, no person that has ever even walked where they would be dropping us off. In the end, I couldn't go. But I wanna talk about the power of an invitation. Invitations come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they are formal, sometimes just an SMS. An invitation says that you're welcome and important, that we want to be with you. The Lord Jesus was always inviting people, right from the beginning. He's still inviting. The Kingdom of God moves forward by invitation.
