The Power of Murals and Public Art: A Conversation with Artist and Detroit Native Syndney James

Craig speaks with fine artist and muralist Sydney James about her latest project, an 8000 square foot mural called "The Girl With the "D" Earring".  The mural will be on the side of the Chroma project on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit's Milwaukee Junction section of the New Center area.  James discusses the theme of the painting, which is based on Vermeer's "Girl with Pearl Earring" but with a decidedly Detroit twist.   They also discuss the process of creating such a large work, and the importance of public art.
