The power of physical movement

from The Daily Grateful with Michael Crose · host Michael Crose

Forget flowery metaphors, movement is raw power. It's the engine that drives us, the fuel that lights up our bodies and minds. Every step, jump, or push is a defiance against gravity, a testament to our physical potential.

All right, welcome. I'm back from Orlando, back from Podfest, where I had three speaking engagements. And I walked, oh gosh, I was on my feet for 12 hours a day. I walked about a million miles.

And I would go back into the hotel room at night and just be exhausted and not be able to go out to any of the nighttime activities I was totally wore out. And by the way, on Saturday, which I didn't stay for, they had a dance. Can you only imagine? Anyway, when we were last together, we were talking about different things like mindfulness, gratitude hacks, power of connection, and what we're going to talk about today.

Guess what we're going to talk about today? We're going to talk about move your body, move your mood. Let's get started. Welcome to the daily grateful.

My name is Michael Crows. And this, well, this is we're going to talk about moving your body and moving your mood and improving your mood, move your body, move your mood. That's what I wrote down. Anyway, um, wow, I got to tell you, I was at this event where I was working a lot.

Okay. And I had to be on all the time. Now, those of us in this industry of talking to people over radio or over your computer via podcast, when we're here in front of Mr. Micofo, we are always on.

Well, when I was over there because I was a public speaker and people knew me from, you know, coming to my talks there, we had a couple of full houses at some of these talks. And, you know, so I had to be on all the time. And I have to tell you, I was not in J for it. I was so bad, and you know, I was so out of shape.

I would go back into the room at night and I could not go to any of the all the nighttime activities were parties and receptions. I was exhausted. I literally was on my feet for 12 hours a day, walking a great deal of that. I had so many steps on my little step downer thing that I thought I was cheating.

It actually thought I was cheating. Anyway, if you exercise, one of the things I, I learned a long time ago is the more you move, the better life is for you. I listened to a podcast and I listened to it for years. And you can go to a website called motivation to move where you will find Scott Smith and Scott Smith has something called the daily boost.

And you know, life happens when you move and lately I ain't been moving much. Well, I thought I was, but I really wasn't because I was really out of shape. I got to tell you I was out of shape. And I got through everything.

All my talks went well. All my interactions with people went well, but I was exhausted. I came home and on Saturday and I just I didn't move. I hit my bed and I stayed there.

And then today, which is Sunday, this is Monday's podcast, but I'm already recording it on Sunday. Oh, man, I got up and I started doing things, started, you know, working around the house, getting a laundry done, going out in the yard, taking a walk around the cul-de-sac. And I, you know, I got moving. I have been moving a lot today after resting yesterday.

But I got to do this more. I've got to really concentrate on my health. And I'm going to tell you, if you concentrate on your health, if you do that, things will be better for you. I am telling you things will be definitely better for you.

It is just, it is just the honesty, and I've noticed throughout my life. When I move my body, you know, I move my body, I will be better mentally. I will be better physically. I will be better emotionally.

I will be better in every way. And this is something that I will encourage you to do. I want you to get out there and do things and just move every day. I am so grateful that I know that.

I'm so grateful that I was reminded of that over the last couple of days when I was over there, not in shape. I was not in physical shape to do the job I did. I got the job done, got it done well. But I was not in shape for it.

I should have been out dancing at night. I should have been out, you know, hanging out with people at night. But I wasn't. And I'm not the only one, you know, by the way, I talked with other people who were speakers there and they were a lot younger than me, as a matter of fact, a lot younger than me.

And they said, they couldn't go out to the nighttime activities because they were just wore out. And I said, well, what do you do for a living? What was your day job? And you know, one lady I talked to, she was, she was an office administrator.

She sat in a desk all day. I said, do you ever exercise? She goes, no, I chase my grandkids around on the weekends. But that's about it.

Well, that's something, you know, that is definitely something. But you know, when you're, when you're, you know, required to be out moving a lot, it wears you down. She was wore down. Then again, I met this lady named Dr.

Lulu. She's 30 years pediatrician retired. This woman was a ball of energy. She was in her 60s.

I could not believe, number one, I could not believe that she was in her 60s. And she said, you know, I've always been moving. Well, if you're a pediatrician, you're constantly moving, you're going from room to room, you're picking up kids, you're going to have, you know, you're going to the hospital, you're doing rounds, you're doing all of this stuff. She hasn't slowed down a bit.

And she went to all the parties at night. I bet you she was on the dance floor. She was doing all of that. My good friend, Dr.

Kerry Cott, look up kerrycott.com. You'll find out about her podcast. She moves all the time. And she was a ball of energy there.

So anyway, that's my message for you today. Get out and do some moving, because I think you will find it helpful for yourself. It's definitely going to be helpful for me. Have a great day, everybody.

Tomorrow, on Tuesday, on Tuesday. What are we going to talk about? Hmm, you're hearing this on Monday. All right.

Michael Croce at gmail.com is where you can leave me a message and tell me what you want me to talk about on Tuesday. And when I record on Monday night, I'm going to pick one of those. If you'll have a great day, we will talk again soon. Bye.

Bye, everybody.
