What this episode covers
What happens when we take charge of our own story, viewing our life’s journey an ever-unfolding tale of creation? On the latest episode, I explore this fascinating idea with storyteller, artist and tarot deck creator The Story Medicine. The Story Medicine transmits stories through the medium of her voice foremost but also as a ceremonialist and craftswoman of spiritual art. The Story Medicine’s work not only expresses the Sacred but also acts as healing and protective. Her stories drip the oceanic smell of Woman, Womb and Earth. Exuding a primal, deeply maternal and emotional quality, her work often communicates the life cycle with a special emphasis on Death and Rebirth. It is her magic to challenge the way the world sees and relates to what we call Woman. On the latest episode, we explore: • Story Medicine’s spiritual background, and how her experiences were shaped by two strong, very different influences in her life: her Catholic, Filipino grandmother on her mother’s side, and her Russian grandmother on her father’s side. • How her awareness of the Sacred Feminine deepened through trance work and ceremony, and now includes her deep relationship with the sea and Kelp Mother, as well as Mary and the Green Woman • Her journey with tarot – how her inspiration to work with this divination tool came to her in a dream, and ultimate culminated in creating The Story Medicine tarot deck, the first and only mix and match tarot deck in the world • Her latest creation, Seaweed Sisters – the 4th and final edition of the Story Medicine tarot deck • The power of storytelling, and how it can help us understand our true identity as agents of constant creation and change
