THE PRAYER OF JABEZ: ASKING FOR MORE!

from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix

Scripture: "Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request." — 1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV) Message: Jabez’s prayer may be brief, but it holds powerful lessons on how to approach God with bold faith. In a long list of genealogies, his name stands out—not because of his background, but because of his heart. Jabez dared to ask God for more: more blessing, more influence, more protection, and more of God's presence. He wasn’t selfish—he was faith-filled. Jabez recognized that God is the source of all good things and that divine blessing has the power to transform even a painful past. His request was not just for personal gain, but for the ability to live a life that honoured God fully. This simple but bold prayer reminds us that it's okay to ask God for more—more capacity, more wisdom, more opportunities to serve. God delights in the prayers of His children who seek His purpose over their own comfort. Today, ask yourself: Am I limiting what God can do in my life by praying small prayers? Am I willing to believe that God wants to bless me and expand my influence for His glory? Prayer: Almighty Father, I thank You for Your willingness to hear and answer my prayers. Like Jabez, I ask You to bless me indeed, enlarge my territory, guide me with Your hand, and protect me from harm. May all I receive be used to bring You glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
