The Prerequisite

In this powerful 5 a.m. devotional, host Nici Mathis takes us deeper into the heart work of forgiveness. Building on lessons from Ephesians 2, Colossians 3, and the parable of the unforgiving servant, today’s focus is Mark 11:12–25—where Jesus reveals that forgiveness is the prerequisite for answered prayer. Through the story of the fig tree and the cleansing of the temple, Nici uncovers how unforgiveness and bitterness create “false advertising” in the life of a believer—professing faith while bearing no fruit. She challenges us to examine our own hearts, expose bitter roots, and break agreement with unforgiveness so that nothing hinders our prayers. This episode is both convicting and freeing, reminding us that forgiveness is not a feeling, but a decision rooted in obedience and faith. When we forgive as Christ forgave us, we align with God’s will, bear good fruit, and position ourselves for breakthrough. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
