The President-Elect

from Democratically: 2020 · host Karin Robinson

Karin speaks to Alex Thier, a foreign policy specialist who served with President-Elect Biden in the Obama administration and is currently working to promote Democracy overseas. Alex first appeared on this podcast during the primary, when he made the case for Joe Biden to be the nominee. In this conversation, we discuss what a Biden administration will look like, the challenges the President-Elect faces at home and abroad, and how concerned we should be about Donald Trump's refusal to concede the race. And, of course, we play the Gut Check Game! EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Karin also announced on this podcast that she will be hosting a live online event, "Thanksgiving, Democratically" on Saturday November 28th from 6PM UK time (1PM EST). The Athletes' Voices Andreia Do you believe that female athletes are not as interesting as male athletes? Not as strong or performant? What if I told you that your perception probably comes from the poor media coverage in women’s sports? UNESCO estimates that globally 4% of sports media coverage is about women. According to a study published in 2020: Female athletes receive the same amount of news coverage as they did in the 1980s. They are also often photographed in “passive” poses, compared to the “active” poses of their male counterparts. I believe, it’s time to change that! This podcast is for anyone who wants to learn about women’s sport. But I’m doing it mostly for women who like me felt like they could never understand sports, that it wasn’t their place but still deep down had an interest in it. So let’s keep learning with the athletes’ voices!
