The Price of Being Nice

from Empowered Way Podcast · host Kathryn Eriksen

Hello Empowered WayersYou may have noticed a shift in focus for this newsletter. I have renamed it “The Empowered Way Wealthletter.”My mission is to help women spiritual entrepreneurs become profitable in their business. That sounds like an easy goal, but I personally know it is anything but easy. The hidden conflicts are multi-layered and subtle, which make it harder for women to see and transform. One of the hardest conflicts to overcome is being nice.Being Nice is a Feminine Trait that Hurts Your BusinessYou’ve always been the giver. The one who shows up. The one who holds space. You love what you do. It feels sacred to serve. But when it’s time to set a price— your throat tightens.“I don’t want to be greedy.” “I just want to help.” “Who am I to charge that much?” So you lower the price. You throw in extra bonuses. You let clients delay payments. You tell yourself you’re being generous. Deep down, it feels off. You feel resentful. You feel unseen. You feel tired. Here’s the truth no one tells you: Undercharging isn’t generosity. It’s fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of being “too much.” Fear of being seen as selfish. When you lower your price to be “nice,” you reinforce the belief that your gifts aren’t worth more. But they are. Your work is valuable. Your wisdom is transformative. And it’s okay to be paid well.Your Pricing Says More About You than You KnowPricing isn’t just a number. It’s a spiritual declaration. Every price communicates: This is what I’m willing to receive. This is what I believe I’m worth. When you undercharge, you create an imbalance: giving more than you’re receiving. That imbalance drains you and it creates an energetic imbalance in your business. When fear is ruling your pricing decisions, expect more fear. It’s a well-known law of the Universe. It’s also a scientific fact that as you see through the eyes of fear, your mind looks for more evidence to support fear. The reticular activation system in your brain is just doing it’s job to keep you safe. But you are not a spiritual entrepreneur to stay safe. That is the last result you wanted when you started your bussiness, right?Instead, you felt a strong call to be more and give more, from your heart and soul. Fear wasn’t part of your spiritual business plan. How can you shift from fear to love?Learn Your Sacred Money Archetypes and the 5 Sovereign Pillars Inside Your BusinessThere is another way. When you align your pricing with your Sacred Money Archetypes, you price from authenticity. From sovereignty. You stop pricing to please. You start pricing to honor. Not just honor your needs— but honor the transformation you offer.Pricing is one aspect of your business. There are 5 Pillars inside your business where you either act from fear or love. When you know your Sacred Money Archetypes, you have an objective, money blueprint of your relationship with money. Each of the eight Archetypes have strengths, gifts, and challenges or shadows. The combination of your Money Blueprint and the 5 Sovereign Pillars creates a vibrant lens through which you see your business is all its glory and shadows.
