The Pride and Prejudice Multiverse (The Other Bennet Sister and Beyond!)

It's summertime and that means it's time to cover classic literature adaptations. This summer we are skipping over direct Pride & Prejudice fare (Katie is team 1995 & Abby is team 2005 for the record). Instead, we are looking at the universe of P&P adaptations and will cover 3 categories: Modernizing P&P- Fire Island, Bridget Jone's Diary, Bride and Prejudice, and The Lizzie Bennet DiariesAusten Influence on Modern Women- Jane Austen Wrecked My Life, Lost in Austen, and AustenlandP&P Universe...With a Twist- Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Death Comes to Pemberley, and the long anticipated The Other Bennet Sister!Join us to hash out all the ways to keep thinking about the Bennets and Austen forevermore. Extra Credit Reading: It's not mentioned here, as it hasn't yet been adapted, but the novel Longbourn by Jo Baker is great and sure to head to screens eventually. It follows a young servant in the Bennet household, living her life while the events of P&P occur in the background.Extra Credit Watching: Keeley Hawes is excellent as Jane's sister Cassandra in the Miss Austen series. Becoming Jane and Miss Austen Regrets are also Jane-centered stories worth a watch.
