The Prime Minister by Anthony Trollope | Victorian Political Drama, Power, Marriage & Scandal Audiobook Part 5

⭐ Catholic Review: 4/5 Trollope’s The Prime Minister explores political responsibility, marriage, ambition, honor, and the temptations of wealth and social influence. The Duke of Omnium reluctantly becomes Prime Minister while his wife, Lady Glencora, attempts to advance his political fortunes; alongside this is the troubling rise of the unscrupulous Ferdinand Lopez. Catholic verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Morally engaging in its examination of integrity, duty, ambition, marriage, pride, and the consequences of dishonesty. Trollope was Anglican rather than Catholic, and the novel is not explicitly religious, but its emphasis on personal responsibility and moral character makes it worthwhile from a Christian perspective.
