In fact, it seems like most of the things in life are non-verbal boith with us and with God. It's just that we live in a noisy, cluttered, broken world. It not only can be, it is a challenge to quiet things down in the culture that we live in. Regardless, if we want to grow and develop in our relationship with God and one another we need to be able to dial things down, find a quiet place and do a fair amount of listening to what seems like nothing but internal voice noise... until it stops.
