THE PROFITABLE PATH (FULL DHAMMA SESSION, Poya)
from Sutta Meditation Series · host Sutta Meditation Series
Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast. This is the FULL DHAMMA SESSION conducted on VAP POYA (20 October 2021) via zoom on "THE PROFITABLE PATH", how to meditate on the Buddha's verse from the Cunda Sutta (Ud 8.5) and activate the insight pathway of non-greed, non-hatred and non-delusion leading to the realisation of path and fruit. *Please note - the meditation slot have been removed, but you can easily stop the audio to do the meditation(s)* Note - This is a slightly simplified version of the meditation. A further session may come later to connect it with other meditations and Dhammas from recent Dhamma talks and full moon poya sessions. In this Dhamma session we: — walk through the story of the Buddha's last meal and the verse associated with this story — examine why this four-line verse is important, with reference to the Petakopadesa analysis, particularly how we make progress from uninstructed worldling (mundane Dhamma) to trainee and adept (supramundane Dhamma) - both in this meditation and in our overall practice — explain each line of the verse and how we meditate on the Profitable Path that activates profitable roots (sequential instructed way to abandon craving for sensual pleasures, form and formless) — group meditation — go through tips for this meditation Some of the suttas covered directly or indirectly in this session: — Cunda Sutta (Ud 8.5) — Mahāparinibbāna Sutta (DN 16) — Ariyasaccappakāsanapaṭhamabhūmi (Pe 1) — Hārasampātabhūmi (Pe 8) — Dhātuvibhaṅga Sutta (MN 140) — Rāgapeyyāla (AN 8.120) — Santatara Sutta (Iti 73) To read the Cunda Sutta (Ud 8.5) - https://suttacentral.net/ud8.5/en/sujato Bohoma pin to the person who requested this talk.
